Report: Kings offer full-time front office position to Peja Stojakovic

The latest twist in an eventful offseason for the Kings features the return of one of the most beloved and important players in franchise history. Vlade Divac has taken over basketball operations in Sacramento in recent months, and now he’s making a push to bring ex-teammate and fellow Serbian native Peja Stojakovic back into the fold. From ESPN.com’s Marc Stein:

The Sacramento Kings have offered a full-time ‎position in their front office to former All-Star sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that new Kings vice president of basketball operations Vlade Divac has asked his former NBA and international teammate Stojakovic to leave Europe and move back to the United States to assist him in a player personnel role.

Stojakovic has been working with the Kings’ front office in a consulting capacity this offseason. He and Divac were seen together at Summer League in Las Vegas. The interest in working with Divac is clearly there. It’s just a matter of whether Stojakovic, who retired from playing in 2011, wants to move back to Sacramento full-time.

It would be fun to see the early-2000s Kings, one of the most enjoyable teams to watch of the last 20 years, back together in any capacity. Maybe bring Mike Bibby back into the fold too, or Doug Christie, or Jason Williams. Why not?

Chris Webber would be amazing at keeping track of timeouts for the scoreboard operator.

Pffft... Next he's gonna hire Elden Campbell for a player development role, because we all know how much of a hard worker he was.
