I'd take Ollie, Hammon or Thibs. I don't think Walton is ready to be a head coach and Nash doesn't seem interested in coaching now. |

why Hammon? cause she won summer league? Walton was promoted to take Gentry's position.
Org to almost all GSW players have good things to say about walton |

I don't know why we didn't make a SERIOUS pitch to him last time around but he's the ideal candidate. Young, hungry, charismatic, has rapport with mulitple NBA superstars, has played in the NBA with star players, etc etc.
IMO, Kevin Ollie + Max Space + Max Space + Russell/Randle/Clarkson has to be appealing to Durant. |
Don't get me back on this. |
Was a pitch even made? |

I think the only newbie coach who even has a shot is ollie and that's because of his kd attraction. Lakers aren't about going the newbie route if they can help it imo. |

so we go with whats hot? Walton learned from Phil and is learning from Steve Kerr who is mix of both: Pop + Phil
Kerr himself is a good coach. not because he won chip but how prepared he was to get the gig.
he uses everything: analytics, Athlete health infrastructure, defense and offense |

No. Not because it's hot, but because pop has a pretty good track record with coaches he's trained. Hey walton has a lot going for him too! Just saying hammon comes from a proven lineage, actually won something as a head coach too (sml). I'm not arguing vs walton though, it's a tough choice. Both hammon and walton are newbs though, I can't see lal going with either one tbh. |

Lakers also like family, and Luke is that. I suspect they will watch him closely this year and see how he performs in an elevated role, and if he does well, he would definitely be in the mix IMO. He has a lot if what scott does in terms of being used to the laker way and the media scrutiny. The key thing will be if he commands respect. |

It's extremely difficult to evaluate assistant coaches from where we sit, because what we'd need to know about them isn't available to us. But I do think Luke has the right temperament to be a good head coach, and he's certainly been in great environments to help cultivate a good coach, both with Phil & Kerr. I suspect Hammon would be a damn good coach too, but I'm less familiar with what she's like than I am with Luke. But that Popovich seal of approval goes a long way with me. |

Yep. Pop says she's a really, really good coach...and not because she coached their SL team to a victory. High praise from him!!

Lakers should've kept Clifford and Bernie Bickerstaff on the coaching staff. |

I cant imagine the nonsense that would be posted here if Hammon was the coach. We put Phil through the ringer while he was here, I imagine it would even be worse for a woman.
Chances are she stays in SA or goes somewhere else in the league that's a little more low key. _________________ *sighs*

That is a ridiculous sentiment that is better left in porn movies. In real life, the players aren't going to overstep their bounds with a female coach. I agree with the person who said that the Lakers shouldn't be her first coaching job. She will probably replace pop or go somewhere lowkey. |

I defend Scott more than the average LG member, but he ticked me off when I re-watched the Lakers-76ers summer league game.
Scott was interviewed by the NBATV guys and the hosts were clowning on Nick Young's defense.
Instead of defending Nick, Scott just laughed and agreed.
He needs to understand Nick Young isn't going to overhaul his personality and skillset this far into his career. So if Scott downplays Nick's (and other players we have on the roster's) weakness, it will help build these guys' confidences.
Who knows, if players like Swag feel the coach has their back publicly, it'll probably improve their play on both sides of the ball. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |
