1. Kobe to have a great season, and if he's going out, leave on his own terms.

2. development of DLO, Clarkson, Randle into a legit core that will attract talent.

3. hopefully Jeannie and Jim become grownups and start running this team more cohesively.

4. At the very least, sweep the Celtics and Clippers.

5. Fight valiantly for the last playoff spot, but just miss it, and luck out with a top 3 pick in the lottery.

1. Health. The last 3-4 seasons have been an absolute nightmare when it comes to injuries. Hopefully Vitti's replacement can bring something different and change our horrible luck.

2. Development of Randle, Clarkson and Russell. I want to see effort, hunger and desire to get better and dominate. I want these 3 to show they want to be the next generation of Lakers.

3. Kobe knowing there is zero chance this team can win a championship and not try to be a hero every game. I want him to be a positive mentor to the future of this franchise and I want him to enjoy what is left of his career by playing free and 'careless' so to speak.

4. Effort from the entire team every night.

5. For the Lakers to be good enough for me to sell a few of my season tickets to help pay for next season.

1. No jackass blackholes controlling the offense.

2. Byron using analytics.

3. Kobe taking a backseat offensively.

4. Flashes of superstardom from D-Lo.

5. If Vitti can flash forward a century or two and start using morphine instead of leeches, that'd be great.

1) Russell, Randle, and Clarkson playing 26-30 MPG and staying healthy all season
2) Kobe playing no more than 30 MPG in 60+ games
3) Hibbert playing like he was worth acquiring
4) 30 wins and playing defense
5) Byron getting fired

Kobe making one last push and get his six ring with a team that is nowhere need a championship level. Retiring and cementing his legacy as one of the greatest if not the greatest to ever play the game. No Jackson, No Fish, No #2 Sidekick. Shutting up all the doubters.

Then I woke up I can only dream hehehe

Top 5:

1. Randle, Russell, and/or Clarkson to truly emerge as a "face" for the franchise

2. Byron Scott coach to the strengths of the team

3. Jeannie & Jim scrap that dumb a_s public deadline, or at least take it behind doors. I'd like to see them function as a unit because if they don't I believe it can/will undermine our pursuit of FA's.

4. Kobe's primary role be that of a facilitator.

5. The development and sustained maturation of Robert Upshaw

4. Greatness from Hibbert, and Williams
5. Byron Scott to succeed as a Lakers' coach.

1) Quick decision catch and shoot, pass, or dribble Kobe. Limited ISO ball.
2) Randle to avg 8 rebounds a game and score in double figures.
3) Clarkson to score mostly from either a dunk/layup or a 3pt shot
4) D Russ to avg 9 dimes 5 rebs and learn how to shoot a floater.
5) Hibbert to avg 10 rebs and 3 blks a game and develop an Mutombo attitude of sending players away when they come into the paint.

Thank you for letting me play

True, but I would think he would want to finish his contract first or at least be near its end, if the rumor was true to begin with. He supposedly also turned down the Thunder position recently.

1. A decent season without a debilitating pattern of key injuries.
2. A more watchable team.
3. A better defending team, even if just marginally better.
4. Relief from Kobe's continuing series of injuries, stemming from the announcement of his retirement.
5. Announcement of reduced home game ticket prices for 2016-2017.

Instead of "minimal injuries," how about NO INJURIES.

1. Jordan Clarkson avg. 18/5/5
2. Russell to become ROY
3. Julius Randle would be ROY if he was allowed, avg 18/9
4. Kobe to stay healthy and evolve into 20/10/6 guy
5. Hibbert become all star again avg. 3.8 blocks a game.

1: not to have to watch Boozer "play" defense
2: not to have to watch Ellington dribble for 20 seconds and hoist up an off balance one footed shot
3: not to have to watch Sacre somehow manage to loose a rebound to a 6 food guard who has better blocking out skills thane he does.

So far I am good for 1 & 2, I am probably going to be disappointed about number 3.

Five things we will get for sure -

1. Not having to feel like victories are hurting the big picture
2. Being able to assess Byron as a coach, not a tankmaster
3. Watching a good mix of vets and prospects instead of journeymen playing for their next deal
4. Being far better on defense
5. Getting our first glimpse of whether the youngsters are wired for team or individual agendas.

1. I want to have FUN watching Lakers bball.

2. I want to watch a FUN and engaged group on the floor

3. I want to have FUN when I go to the games and not have my half-time pretzel be the highlight of my attendance.

4. I want to have FUN engaging with my fellow Lakers fam and not have to hear folks happy about losing and hopefully never hear the word "tank" associated with the Lakers again.

5. If this is Kobe's last year, I hope it's FUN and he goes out healthy and playing strong.

Honorable Mention: it would be FUN to make it into the post-season.

Yeah. I read the same re your last sentence. In any event, that would be my pick. And college coaches jump ship all of the time regardless of their contracts, whether it be from one U to another, or from a university to the pros. (Basketball and football).

Easy example. Ainge hired Brad Stevens from Butler. Great hire. He's so good, the Celts couldn't/can't even tank properly. And per Butler's AD, Stevens was under contract with Butler until 2025.

1. The healthiest season for the roster in 20 years.
2. A more facilitating Kobe.
3. Continual, steady improvement for the youngsters.
4. Good chemistry between the vets and youngsters.
5. Competitive spirit driving the team game in and out, despite the scoreboard.

After that, let the chips fall where they may.

Good list GTR.

I agree health is the key, they have been just devastated by injuries the last few years.

I would also like to see more facilitating Kobe and less low percentage high volume shooter Kobe. Key for him is health, if he plays 68-70 games or more, I think he will figure it out.

The other points you make are great also. We need improvement from the youngsters and minutes, cohesion with the vets and competitive spirit for sure.

To me, the biggest single area that needs to improve drastically is overall defensive effort and team defense. They have been atrocious in that area and hopefully guys like Hibbert and smart vets like Bass and Williams could help improve that.

They have to compete harder and more consistently on the defensive end and let the youngsters play minutes and develop through the inevitable mistakes.

Probably a question for Yin...

I think Ollie turned the Lakers down already.

I would try again.
