Joel Embiid would miss his second straight season if he has the surgery Tuesday that Yahoo! Sports reports is being planned.
It's sounds the old refrain: when a big man suffers bone problems before 20 years of age, reconcile that it's best passing on drafting him. Let some other club absorb his risk.

Never available via trade.
But this is certainly another sad injured big man tale. I honestly thought more highly of him than Oden. _________________ We back.

76ers are pathetic. All they know is tank and hoard picks. I feel bad for their fans.

The good thing was at least he wasn't a #1 or 2 pick. Had he been healthy, he'd be taken #1 or 2 at lowest. Can you imagine a team taking him instead of Wiggins?

Very sad. Tremendous talent. Should've had that surgery by now though.

more like really hard luck than to blame the 76ers for being pathetic I would think.

Apparently, he wanted to talk to other players who underwent surgery and they put together a special team of five doctors whose schedules had to be coordinated. They felt there was no need to rush since this is a career-threatening injury and he was going to miss all of next season anyway. A delay of a couple months wouldn't affect anything.

Does anyone know if this surgery was considered the first time around for him?
