So he's going to give us a repeat of last year? Can't wait.
if thats how u want to look at it, sure
Well, was he or wasn't he in game shape for the first few months of the season before he got hurt again?
There was a tweet that I read somewhere stating that Kobe has been able to stay him shape because he suffered an upper body injury. He was still able to do things that kept him in shape is it wasn't a lower-body injury.

Definitely not worried about his conditioning.
Hence, "being in GAME shape" versus "being in shape".

I get that. Nevertheless, at least he had the chance to keep his body conditioned to give him the best possibility of being in as good as shape possible to be in 'game shape' by the time the season starts. He couldn't do that other years because of his lower-leg injuries. He also has 8 NBA preseason games to help get him there as well.

Ok well the other guy said to never worry because Kobe is always in game shape and now you're saying he isn't always in game shape which is what I am saying also.
As for this season, he can't get in to game shape by the start of the regular season. That would be impossible.

He was just NOW cleared to starting shooting?! WTH?
why are you surprised?
So how long has it been since he's shot a basketball?
about 7 months
Wow. I guess I didn't realize that he hasn't picked up a basketball in about a season's worth of basketball.
He's not going to be in game shape until next year at the earliest. Ugh. Hope he defers to the youngins early while he rounds in to game shape.
Kobe has been doing physical conditioning/work outs for many months now. Conditioning wise, I think Kobe will be better this season compare to last season.
Well last year Kobe's shot was off...middle of the season he tears the rotator cuff that was apparently bothering him for a while. Coincidence??? Let's hope the shooting percentage was related to the shoulder and Kobe will be more accurate this year. Defensively he doesn't really got it anymore but offensively I think he is still tough to guard, but he needs his shot to fall better than last year.

I agree with that. I don't think his conditioning has ever been questioned. I just didn't realize he was not allowed to shoot this whole time. For some reason I thought he'd be able to recover over the missed time and shoot in the offseason.
Somehow I think Kobe's messed up right shoulder may have been a factor as to why his shot never got going last season. That and Byron playing him 35 mins a game didn't do anything for his legs but wear them down quickly X_X
Can't wait to see DLO play with more veterans who will catch his passes. I'm also looking to see improvement of his 3 point shooting as well. The other stuff will come in due time.
Edit: oops, wrong thread.
playing with DLO, Jordan, Kobe and Randle, I see hibbert averaging 16points
he didnt play with a single playmaker in indy
I don't think Hibbert's ever averaged that much (12.8 ppg is his highest). I think he'll stay more around 11-12 ppg range. He's even said that offense won't be his #1 priority.
and again, hibbs has never had a playmaker for a teammate. Ghill is a super solid backup pg on a championship team. but aint no playmaker.
truth is, playmakers can make chumps look like decent players. make decent to average guys look like certified ballers. and make allstars look like superstars.
never underestimate a nice passer with a big man that can atleast catch and finish. hibs aint kwame.

Hibbert's best offense is a smooth mid range game. He isn't a guy who catches lobs or finishes hard inside. He probably tops off at around 12 ppg. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Yeah. If he struggles in the early going, I think that will be more of an indication of rust than anything else. It'll take some time to find his rhythm.
It will be interesting to see what Kobe can do initially and then, throughout the season. He's testing some familiar boundaries of the human body and spirit in terms of basketball. The diminution that age takes from us humans in terms of speed, quickness, lift, agility and recovery time required from activity is well known. I hope he can give us glimpses from time to time of his play of three and five years ago. That's all I'm hoping for from him.

Finding that rhythm may be easier then we think as long as he concentrates on taking better shots.
It seemed to me that last year he was a bit wilder then the norm. He took more off-balance and forced shots then usual. Perhaps this shoulder injury gets him back to the basics. Taking better balanced shots within the offense.
At least I can hope so anyways. Having other players create for him so he can focus on the mechanics of a good shot could be just the thing he needs.

So I guess no one is in game shape then. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
Nearly nine months after suffering a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has been medically cleared to participate in all basketball activities, an NBA source confirmed to ESPN.com on Thursday.
Bleacher Report first reported that Bryant had been cleared.

Man, it's very sad to see Kobe being "cleared" for the 3rd consecutive training camp. Godspeed to Kobe and good health. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
