It's a matter of mobility. Sacre cannot move his feet and is exploitable on P&Rs. Black is less so compared to Hibbert/Sacre. You want to have another stylistically different option, which Black is compared to Sacre.

Not to mention that black also has a very good offensive rating as a starter.

Not trying to insult Sacre but that's the truth.

Curious why you felt the snotty little snide comment was necessary? Do you feel more confident now? Superior somehow? Perhaps you shouldn't try so hard and just express your opinion.

As I stated, both players have their roles and strengths and weaknesses. I also consider Black the better player in his role. But IMO Sacre has his also. Against most teams I would be starting Sacre over Black at Center if Hibbert goes down this season. Just my opinion on how their roles fit the team.

Except both guys have played multiple games as a starter, and black does it better by almost any measure.

Exactly.

And FDB I'm not sure why you took my post personally or thought it was a snide comment. It wasn't. And wasn't even directed towards you.

Doesn't matter if they have different roles. Tarik Black is just a better basketball player. LeBron has a different role than Dellavedova, but it's not hard to tell who the better basketball player is is it?

Black is much more productive despite is much smaller stature. Sacre is the dictionary definition of a stiff. It is too bad, I like him has a person and he has a great attitude. But results are results and despite being 7 feet tall and somewhat mobile he just does not produce. He has an amazingly low rebounding rate and he is a terrible rim protector.

Black has hops, speed and timing. In addition, he has a strong base and does not give up ground in the post nearly as quickly as Sacre. One other thing- potential. Sacre has been around for a while and has not improved. Black is coming off of his rookie year and appears to have the drive and work ethic to improve.

Black and Sacre are functionally the same size. Their standing reach is about the same, with only a half inch of difference. Sacre is slightly heavier but Black's body type is better, with a longer wingspan and lower center of gravity.

I'm pretty satisfied with Black being the second stringer and Sacre being the third stringer, considering what it cost us to get them.

Black is a plus defender and a good finisher. He does contribute in a lot of positive ways. But strategically his combination of weaknesses is a bad mix. Plays Center, no range, not an anchor. If he can build range out to 15' feet, he becomes a completely different player.

No complacency on our squad. If we mess up, we're going to work till we get it right. That was proven tonight

I love our team man. We played 5 on 5 today and it didn't go so well for my team. I came in late night and dudes were working out #weworking

Tarik Black On His Development During Off-Season

Quote:
“I want to be on both ends of the floor,” Black continued. “I hang my hat on rebounding and defense, so I just want to get better and better and become more of a ‘lockdown’ defender and also become more of a threat on the offensive end to make people honest.”

I think Hibbert will help with developing Black on the defensive end. Teach him how to contest without fouling.

I just want Tarik to be a better help defender. He has the athleticism to be a shot blocker but he just isn't one at all. He started showing the mid-range shot at the VERY end of last year, so I'm not worried about him developing on offense.

If he really becomes one of the best defenders I might call him "The Black Hole" for devouring his man.

Popcorn Machine: Tarik Black

Quote:
Tarik Black sits down to talk about his summer development, watching Sesame Street with his teammates and how the rookies are fitting in with the squad. Take a listen for Boom Boom's thoughts on D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Roy Hibbert. Plus, he takes a look back on going from an undrafted free agent to starting for both Houston and the Lakers.

Sorry you signed for less, Bass.

I know who I want playing backup center minutes.

Tarik Black should have been the back up center for tonight instead of Bass.

Absolute joke this kid didn't get any minutes. Black clearly showed last season he was the perfect backup center. Can block shots, rotate defensively, finish inside, is athletic, great energy, and has improved his offense game. Scott is a joke.

Common sense or Byron Scott sense?

Common sense: to backup Randle at PF and Tarik Black at backup Center.

Byron Scott sense: because Bass has that "grit" at Center while Black to needs to prove himself by running more laps!

I think Kelly playing well at the 4 during PS put them in kind of a bind... Kelly needed PT and Scott needed to find minutes for Bass as well, but the only place to play him is at backup 5. Hopefully he realizes that Bass at the 5 is a disaster and benches Kelly or Bass (or at least uses them a the primary backup 4 based on match ups). Black needs the backup C minutes. He proved that last season

Kelly's minutes shouldn't have come at Black's expense. Bass on the other hand...
