I think i have never seen young miss that mid range jumper at the corner of the FT line when hes coming off a pick by the baseline. This guy has MAJOR talent. Too bad he never cared enough.
Yeah, one thing I noted is that when Young comes off a curl or screen, he's getting the ball in the right place and time vs last year (either not at all or too late usually), leading to a smooth catch and shoot.
Young is a very good catch and shoot guy, and the more of those he gets and the less, "here, take the ball and get yourself a shot" touches, the better.
Yeah but good luck telling Young to basically never dribble again.
I know you're joking, but sometimes it's oK for him to attack off the dribble.
He looks like he's getting slightly better at making the right play in this preseason.

Oh of course. I mean if he's got a good lane to attack from go for it.

Yeah, even the majority of his off the dribble shots are squared up nicely. Still going for the fading heat check contested jumper a bit, but not nearly as much. And he is money as a spot up shooter.
Considering his quick release, wouldn't it be best if he emulated Stephen Curry's dribbling routines?
I'm still on the mindset of wanting him to watch tape of CJ McCollum to create his own shots.
CJ 30points vs Sac. very similar shot selection and moves. D'Lo already has all of this in his arsenal. Late in the vid it's step back mid range Js. A lot of the rest is shooting the 3ball whenever the D is sleeping, that was DLo in college. The 3s really remind me of college DLo. Mid range reminds me of the DLo we've seen the past month

McCollum is much more deliberate in creating space for his own shot. Both players saw similar levels of pressure defense coming out of the NCAA level. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
Russell is 6'5 with a 6'9 wingspan, much bigger and longer then Curry and McCollum. He will have no problem getting his shots. The problem isn't Russell it's the scorers/chuckers we have on the team. His time to avg 18-20 ppg, 10 apg will come but for now I think he will take the Ginobli/Nash role and just get his teammates involved first.

I don't really think there's a problem at all. I don't care how many shots he takes so long as he makes the right play the vast majority of the time. IMO, if you have the ball in your hands, your job is to get your team the best shot possible.

I would've liked to see Russell play with some starters other than the little minutes he had with Kobe who was hell bent on creating his own shot and not passing.

I liked how he played at the end of the 4th quarter. Want to see him get minutes with the starters. Don't get why Byron doesn't switch the rotations to integrate both starters and bench. The rotation isn't always gonna be five in, five out.

Kobe single handedly screwed up the ball movement in the 1st qtr.
