There were a lot of people who ripped that pick (including many now ripping the Russell pick), and I have yet t hear from one of them about this. |

I remember two posts about Nance
One was from a guy who said he went to the same college where Nance played and watched every single game and thought he would be a clear bust because he has no nba skills
The other was from someone who watched most of Nance's college games and said he was gonna be a fan favorite for us because of his hustle and athleticism
They're in the draft thread somewhere... _________________ Kobe |

we should start calling him Larry Legend just to piss off Bill Simmons. _________________ "I don’t give a [expletive] what you say. Not sure if 6 points and 4.3 boards makes a steal for a first round pick. |

peeps are going ga ga over Nance. I can see why, but some need to just temper their expectations just a tad. He is going to be a nice role player though _________________ "We might have had the worst season ever or could have the worst season ever for a Lakers team, but now let's have the greatest comeback that the league has ever seen." - Kobe Bryant |

Disagree. i would start him for his defense and BBIQ alone and he brings much more to the table. He will continue to get better just like Randle will even if his potential isn't as high. He still has a pretty high cieling IMO |

This is so accurate.
Nance looks like a definite solid NBA Player and a contributor on a Championship team.
Randle definitely has more star potential but he could be a less effective player than Nance.
To me, Randle could be David Lee or if he is able to improve his flaws he may approach Barkley.
If he is David Lee, then he should probably play off the bench as an offensive punch like Lee did on the Warriors and Nance should start as the more solid/defensive minded player (i.e. Barnes, Draymond) _________________ Llluuukkkeee |

There's no reason that team can't be something good in a couple yrs |
Man, I want that to be true so badly. Hopefully he can gain the strength needed to defend 5's in he next year or so. If mothers going Ronald an excellent 4. I'm actually surprised Byron hasn't played him at the 5 already |
He's listed as 5'8 but he looks taller on the court to me. He's so long and hustles like a true big. His length and athleticism are special and I think totally compensate for his height. In this current era of small ball I don't see why he can't work.
Regardless he deserves playing time. He's super active out there and makes the right play most of the time. | Who is this 5'8 Gary Lance guy??? |

Nance is a good player. An energy guy who for now appears to have a nice stroke. He's not shown he can be a 'good' rebounder yet though, which for his size and position he needs to be.
I'm a Nance fan, don't worry about that. Rotation player, yes. Solid contributor/role player, yes. I just do not see him as a starter and not as one in preference to Randle. Full stop. _________________ "We might have had the worst season ever or could have the worst season ever for a Lakers team, but now let's have the greatest comeback that the league has ever seen." - Kobe Bryant |

Coach Dave manned up and admitted he was wrong. | I literally predicted the Russell pick with #2 and the Brown pick with #34 but, I was completely suprised when they took Nance at #27. Honestly, I just didn't know a whole lot about him. I didn't see any of his games and they kind of down played him on the draft websites. I thought we would take Dionte Christmas with #27. |

I too was shocked by the pick as he was nowhere on draft boards. de can ply though. Reminds me of a Rambis with better athleticism. Great pick at 27. |

Surprised he was taken in the first round. At the time, and still kinda do, think it was a reach. For the most part, have been pleasantly surprised by Nance. Not willing to overreact after a couple of good games, though. Do like his defense and athleticism, which is sorely needed on the Lakers.
Still has a lot of work to do on his game to be a solid player. He's hesitant to put the ball on the floor and his jump shot is ugly. I think his jumpshot this year, like most rooks, will be erratic, even though he's been pretty good so far.
Side note:
I don't like stocking up on undersized PFs. How many does this team need? We now have four undersized tweener PFs. Four PGs, three of which lack lateral quickness and one in that group would rather tackle a player than stay in front of him. Need to diversify the roster. |

Wouldn't mind packaging Randle, Clarkson, Hibbert and Nance for Cousins. We would then call up Upshaw, Frazier and Holmes?? to fill the roster spots. Team would look like this:
pf-Bass/World Peace/Kelly/Holmes
sf-Bryant/Brown
c-Cousins/Black/Upshaw
PG-Russell/Huertas
SG-Young/Williams/Frazier |

What?! Come on! He almost gets you 5 boards a game. And it's 10 games in. That means he's a future HOFer. |

I love all the bashing on the FO but they've done a pretty good job drafting. Getting Clarkson in the 2nd and Nance as a late 1st who has been probably a top 8 rookie all season. They've signed Lou who right now seems to be a steal of a contract ecspecially seeing how next season he could get about 12-14m. I think they deserve a tad bit more credit than people give. |

Funny thing is the Kings prob say no. Both Kings and Lakers are at different stages that both wouldn't do this deal. We'd do this trade for sure if we get Durant though and the Kings decide to rebuild which would be stupid because they've been rebuilding since like 2005 haha |
