The evolution of Russell Westbrook
Quote: | With all the critiques, comments and criticisms that have followed Westbrook the past seven years, that he's not actually a point guard, that he's selfish, that he doesn't pass, you'd think there has to be some level of satisfaction in leading the league in that category. Russell Westbrook, the supposed ball hog, is out-assisting the entire NBA, and by a decent margin.

I just worry that by the time we have an opportunity to get him, he'll be on the downside of his career. Either that, or his body will be starting to break down from several years of pushing himself to his physical limit (a la Derrick Rose). |

I'm not as high on Westbrook as others. I like his drive and dedication, but his ballhandling PPP stats are pretty average for a "superstar". Someone like Curry is averaging PPP>1.2, >1.5 in many categories.
Westbrook needs to play more efficiently if he wants to be on a championship team. OKC has had talent for many years, yet they've failed to live up to expectations.
That said, don't get me wrong, he's a stud, but he's not top 3-5 in my book and not as good a player as when Durant is at his full health and best. If OKC had a coach like Pop or Phil, I think they'd put Westbrook a little bit in his place - to facilitate more, shoot and create less for himself. |

Completely agree, hopefully sooner rather than later. Trade the whole roster if necessary. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |
