Well I guess in a nutshell this could easily relate to overall bad coaching. But the truth of the matter is, I've said this before and I'll say it again, I actually Like BScott as the head coach for this team... BUT, he probably isn't capable of pulling them together...
Stagnant Offense: They Princeton offense doesn't suit the players that we have in the rotation. The spacing on the floor is horrible and it just doesn't meat their skill set IMO. Randle seems to be out of position most of the times, especially where they're expecting him to dribble drive from the perimeter and score the ball. Most of the time it results in an off balance attempt that he might make 40-50% of the time. I don't know if I could live with those numbers considering that he doesn't seem to touch the ball as much as he probably should in the offense... Before he was getting the ball out in transition during the defensive rebound and fast break opportunities, but Scott seems to have slowed that all together.
No Defense: This is truly just not good. The Lakers can't seem to stay in front of their opponents and rotate properly on defense. It could be a lack of desire, but it could also be the fact that they are simply incapable of playing at that level. This is part coaching and part player responsibility. There has to be a commitment to defense in order to compete in this league.
Overall Assessment: The Lakers should finish last in the league and FIRST in the Lottery Selection which should give us some leverage. I say we keep the pick and select the best player whoever that may be and watch this team grow over a 5 year period until a superstar becomes available. I actually believe an All Star Big would consider playing along side some of our up and coming talent like, Clarkson, Randle and Russell... Let's just hope it all pans out that way...
I'm sorry but for now and with the Lakers recent luck over the last 3 years I doubt we get Durant in a Lakers uniform. |

It's called the Byron Scott special. It comes with a side of arm folding and postgame deflection as dessert. |
