Oh man looks like u havent watched monty coached teams anad r just going off some articles

His offense is in same league as mike brown

No thanks.

Only want Luke else becky

And the advocacy for Becky Hammon is based off of what now?

One good coach off the table.

One good coach off the table.

The irony is we had him and he was viewed as an asset to the players.

And he even was Dwight's favorite coach. A smarter move in hindsight in 2013 would have been to remove MDA and give Clifford the HC job. Many players aside from Dwight even raved about him.

Even if we had kept Messina and promoted Clifford - not only does it put onus on Dwight's camp to cease with the coaching card they were trying to play - it makes our team better, period.

Instead we kept MDA another year and he left knowing he wasn't in the longterm plans. And then hired Byron.

The thing I like about Luke is that he will be the kind of coach who isn't insecure enough to get top quality assistants. Who the hell are the guys that Scott put next to him? Seem like guys who will never challenge him, including his son.

well you don't hire him if he still subscribes to that theory, or if he's unrelenting in adjusting at least a bit

Adding Shane Battier to my pipe dream list, after Becky Hammon and before Nash.

I like Luke too, but I think he's actually a realistic possibility.

I used to think Greg Anthony could have been an option as being a decent coach but too far removed imo.

Is Shaka smart good?

Greg would be a terrible coach. He's meant for color commentary on NBA 2k.

Luke is not this amazing coach. He got a great group of players who just won a ring together. Heck i bet even Byron's none-coachin can' make them lose

As soon as Steph hits 2 3s in a row he'd get benched for 12 minutes.

Its a young core they can get heavy minutes. Thibs make bad defenders average defenders. I'm just not sold on Luke like I was with Gentry. Defense travels and thats what this team needs.

Of all these coaches we talk about, who can be hired after a mid-season dismissal of Byron Scott (which I can't wait to see)?

Just wishful thinking, perhaps the front office is not making coaching moves now because the the right candidates are still under contract somewhere? (but if that is the case, could we just snatch them from their teams, with them reaching a buyout deal with their own teams now?)

We won't hire mid season imo. I don't think many coaches want to coach this Kobe. Our youth? Hell yes. A pg who wants to pass. I think once retirement is official guys/gals will make their interest known. Scott is kobes entourage at this point

Thibs should certainly be on the interview list. The Bulls were his first head coaching job and, given his track record of success there he deserves an opportunity to determine if he's learned from his mistakes.

So then we can look forward to Russell and Randle being washed up at 26 like Rose? Nice.

I tend to agree. It's a mess trying to manage Kobe's (hopefully) final season and develop the youngsters. However, I hate the thought of what kind of impression a full season of this mess will make on potential free agents next summer.

I think it's pretty transparent. Everyone knew Kobe wasn't tiptoeing away. Plus we have a ton of cash and seemingly respected young guys.

Free agents know the problem(s). Every agent knows what is going on with the Lakers. They know the problem is Kobe. The next problem is the owners. They are stepping out of their comfort zone and making basketball decisions. Jim's time has run out, Jeanie made a complete mess of Kobe's contract and the hiring of BS.

The good news is that the majority of the problems won't be there anymore. The coaching change is easy. It's going to happen. I don't think anyone believes BS will be the head coach next year.

So what agents will see next year is a young team, good assets, possible top three pick and a ton of cap space.

Even better, they know Kobe and Scott will be gone. They know Jim and Jeanie won't be making basketball decisions anymore.

I honestly think it won't be as bad as the 2 previous off seasons.

A couple of signings away and we are 2 years away from making a serious run.
