Odds of Top-3 pick with worst record: 65%
Odds of Top-3 pick with second worst record: 55%
Odds of Top-3 pick with 3rd or 4th worst record: 45%
I don't see Lakers finishing better than 4th worst record. Current worst 4 teams:
1) 76ers: Couple of key players are returning from injuries...that could improve them.
2) Lakers.
3) Nets...No incentive to tank as they don't have their pick for the next 3 years.
4) Pelicans...Tyreke is returning this week...they are trying to win now.
Every other team has atleast 5 wins and have a shot at play-offs.
4th worst record odds are lower than that - the two teams on Tankathon are tied so they gave them both 3rd worst odds
I see...good point...good catch on my source as well
Lol I am on there every day. I am on Tankathon every, day. It is, November..
You're ahead of your time KIROE. Or at least, ahead of the LG mods. Not to worry, the Tank thread will brought back to life one way or another.
Yea soon enough. Tank threads are so argumentative though, lol. And with only top 3 protection it's gunna get heated in there, microwaving the same damn argument every day 😂
Can't wait. I need tank talk ; draft prospect / youth movement talk more than anything
If the Pelicans do get better this will be the first time in franchise history that the lakers get last place in the western conference
The Pelicans are already better. 4 wins. Lakers won't reach that for another month at least. Worst record in the west is a foregone conclusion at this point. The only drama is vs. Brooklyn for 2nd or 3rd worst.
Byron Scott can lead us to the Promise Land... no doubt.
Promise Land = Top 3 pick in the next draft.
Once this season ends and we have a great shot at the top pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, then I would immediately fire Byron and begin looking for a coach who can bring in an offense that suits D'Angelo Russell.
This IS the responsible plan for this team's future. _________________ A three headed monster... Jeannie, Pelinka, and Ham... another terrible season.
Even if you fire Byron this team will be only marginally better. Byron's job is to continue to employ his outdated offense, mindset, and approach to the game, secure our top 3 pick, and make a gracious exit as Jim Buss signs his last paycheck.

His job was to oversee the farewell tour. Nothing more, nothing less. If they wanted actual coaching they would have stuck with MDA.

Oh so NOW MDA is an actual coach. Y'all weren't saying that when he was around

Actually I was one of the few. Most of his vehement critics have either changed their nicknames or left.

Well......I haven't changed my name... or left.....Brown, DanTanna, and hardheaded Byron......three not-so good choices
Byron can't "secure" a top 2 or 3 pick in the draft. Fire him and let Madsen have some fun. We won't be the worst team in the league (Philly), which is still only 64.3% to keep a top 3 pick. Nets and Pelicans are just as bad as us, 2nd and 3rd worst is 55.8% and 46.9%. No one should be looking to "secure" a draft pick.
I'll be shocked if we're not bottom 3 at this point, with it more likely being bottom 2. The Pels are going to win games they've been banged up but they are going to keep pushing ahead
BKN I think given their conference will likely still finish a touch better than us
76ers - I mean that's just a lost cause, I don't even know how sixers fans can put up with this.
Lakers are going to have to ride this out this season. Let Byron finish because we know he is terrible and maybe the Lakers can get a shot at the top pick. If the Lakers get Ben Simmons, they do not make this decision for not. I believe they would have had an unprecedented draft the last 3 years, which is being overshadowed because of how bad they have been picking their coaches and running their free agency.
Last 5 draft picks have been very good and have the potential to be core and great role players with the right coach. If the 6th one ends up being Ben Simmons, than the Lakers have a shot and building their team much like the Spurs and OKC did in the late 2000s. Than, they dont have to put all their eggs in one thing with all these damn free agents who arent coming. _________________ Because we're better than you!
i don't even think it's worth analyzing the coaches. i don't think it matters.
you know, i'm sure you guys have mentioned this here, but i just realized that scott is probably here for point guard development. so....that's probably it, nothing else really meaningful.
look at his history:
coached the Finals version of Jason Kidd
coached rookie Chris Paul
coached rookie Kyrie Irving
now coaching rookie DaR and Clarkson.
