The Sixers don't have a curfew but the team asks players to make responsible decisions, Brown said. He said the team won't change how it handles players following games.

Wow....

Alright, obviously there is something bigger going on that the Sixers don't know. It's likely more than these two incidents but we only heard about the one all the way back in October because of this one. Who knows what else the Sixers have 'swept' under the rug...

Even so, so early that's....harsh... unless this isn't the 2nd time either. Who knows how many times it's been swept under the rug, we're just hearing about the fight in October now, so who knows what else they know. (shrug)

Anyway If the 76ers did that I'm pretty sure he wouldn't make it past waivers, heck I doubt it'd take 3 hours, SOMEONE would go get him and quickly.

But wow still... makes you wonder what else has been going on behind the scenes.

Even so, we shall see where this goes.

Oh god, please let there be another incident. Lakers claim Okafor off waivers and end up with both Russell and Okafor...

LOL, unfortunately the Lakers don't have the cap-space or an exception to do so.

Man the Sixers just have fantastic luck with centers lol.

They have the center they need, but are playing him out of position.

That refers to walking away from the situation, not leaving the team.

"He will walk" statement doesn't make much sense without the context. It doesn't mean leaving the team nor walking away from the situation.

Okafor told Coach Brown about the incident on the team plane, I believe he's saying Okafor will have to walk home (and not take the plane) if that happens again. Really kind of a throwaway phrase, but when highlighted is rather confusing.

Or he could just fly first-class commercial using some of his five million dollar annual salary...

We're one month into his career. Stew on that one.

One month. Driving 108mph in a 40mph zone. Had a gun drawn on him. Punched out a heckler in the wee hours in front of a club. At 19 to boot.

Jah's responsible for his own behavior, but I do think the absence of vets on the Sixers is an issue when you're fielding a team of youngsters.

Plenty of players in sports have gone down the wrong path while surrounded by veterans.

Sure. But if he's predisposed to this kind of acting out, some vets can go a long way in influencing him to veer away from that path. He could still very well resist that influence, but the news about Okafor, the stories about Embiid. Seems like an adult in the room would be beneficial.

they got Mbah Moute to help chaperone Embiid last year. Seems it didn't work out.

I think the 76ers thought that off a championship run with Duke, that Oak would be more poised. Seems nothing could override the gloom of the 76ers

[Bar bouncer with a 76ers Okafor jersey on]: Um, your name is "Xianong Chou?"
[Oak]: Yes, um, yes.

My initial questions about this latest incident was if the authorities arrived and whether or not they gave him a breathalyzer. Not much good can be underneath the soil of these issues.

I mean, I don't think that a 19 year old getting a fake ID is a big deal in a vacuum, buuuuut....

1) You're a 6'10" celebrity. C'mon, man.
2) There are plenty of people who would love to get you into their club. Have "a guy" that takes care of (bleep) like that for you ahead of time.
3) Have some GD security (or posse) with you when you go out.

I don't care that he's partying, frankly, but he's showing terrible judgment in not protecting himself.

Dude whiffed on all 3. That gives you a seat back in the dugout. And that's what he needs: a good old fashioned time out.

Well, the joint IS called The Misconduct Tavern. When you're a young, inexperienced dips-t you tend to take things more literally. I stopped being so literal when I became an older, more experienced dips-t.

Chuck drones on and on about having Moses, Bobby (Bobbuh) Jones, and Doc J to guide him. Imagine what he would've done without it. The kid he took under his wing in 90 eventually wound up killing someone. You can't rule that kinda worst case scenario out when you're talkin about young pro athletes. The fact that Okafor is pulling such stunts coming out of Duke is a surprise, though.
