I agree 100%. Maybe it's because I watched more Warriors games this year.
I definitely watched more GSW than SAS this year. I just think Kawhi is the best of the elite wing defenders in the league but there's nobody who can do what Draymond does. _________________ 14-5-3-12
Can't go wrong between Leonard and Green. I wouldn't say Green got robbed but he was my choice too. What he does for that Warrior team is just ridiculous.

I agree. Green only has Steph while Leonard has 5 elite defenders on his team.
Not to take anything away from Leonard though, he's a great defender. _________________ RIP Kobe

Huh? Iggy, Klay, Bogut are all stud defenders. Barnes, Festus are also great defenders.
I still give the nod to Draymond for his versatility.

To compensate, the Warriors need to employ a lot doubles and swarms, which does do a great job of slowing down opposing bigs, but Draymond gets "credit" for the stop per analytics.
- Draymond doesn't really guard perimeter players. And it's a perimeter players league.
Hell, even last year in the Finals, it was Iggy matching up with Lebron. Kevin Love was injured, so Draymond, on paper, didn't have much of a load to carry defensively. Yet, Tristan Thompson and Mozgov pretty much destroyed the Warriors interior defense and controlled the boards.
- Warriors offense is their best defense.
No offense is more exhausting to defend, meaning other teams will naturally have less energy to put toward offense.
Now, I'm not suggesting Green is a bad or even average defender. His ability to switch on PnRs is a big advantage for that Warriors defense, but the idea that he can defend all 5 positions like prime KG or Rodman is blatantly false.
He's a solid, smart defender in a very good situation. Kind of like Manu Ginobili, who is, in an analytic vacuum, one of the greatest perimeter defenders of all-time.
Kawhi is a game changing defender. You can build a defensive scheme around him.

Thoroughly agreed, across the board ... the hype for both Kawhi and Draymond is high, but Draymond's is more unreasonable IMO. And re: the DPOY issue, it probably helps Kawhi's case that he doesn't rely on the complicity of the officials to enable his success on the court (by allowing him to commit 30 - 40 uncalled personal and technical fouls most games), nor is he a colossal douchebag like Green. 2nd place is the first loser, isn't that how the saying goes?
