No one was fired, they just didn't pick up the option on Byron's contract. Jim is still in charge.

Too bad it was a false alarm, and I was about to have a drink on that.

Jim has a year left to get the Lakers to the WCF as he voluntarily guaranteed he would about two years back.

Jeanie is holding him to his promise....hence some butthurt from the usual quarters.

Is butthurt a slur against homosexuals?

It isn't, but keep trying to find something to be offended by.

Actually Jeanie said the goal is to show continued improvement, not WCFs.

Yeah, can't forget Jim is an owner. That he has taken a second role is his option but no one fires an owner...

I have not seen a single person have an issue with Jim being replaced if he doesn't meet the deadline.

Jim will never get "fired", there's no corporation above the Lakers or megabillionaire above them delivering words. It's his sis that can sorta do it but that would make the Buss look extremely poor in the spotlight.

At most you'll see him "step down" from his role and let the other family members take a drive at the wheel (if they can even drive themselves...).

Just if Jim strikes you as an honest guy who keeps to his word. Don't kid yourself.

He shouldn't be fired. He should be promoted. He is an owner, what is with this obsession with being a GM/president? Does he not see himself as an owner? He should have people doing that job on his behalf.

Yup. Jimbo needs to leave the basketball decisions to true basketball minds. They should've brought back West as soon as Phil was gone.

They have one West in a position of power, that precludes them having another.

Yes, though JB seems to be kind of like the guy who gets three wishes from a genie in a bottle. He spends his first two wishes on stupid stuff, then he wishes for three more wishes...

Jerry is not coming back.

He is in a great situation with owners that really respect and appreciate him.

And he is one of those owners.
