That redesign is one lousy attempt at the look of a too-square king's crown on the top. Doesn't work visually at all.
The funny part is that the chosen design was certainly chosen from among several competing submissions. Wouldn't like to take credit for being on that selection committee.

I don't get what the deal is with these ugly clip-art looking logos. It started with the Nets, then the Raptors, then the Clippers, and now the Kings. I mean, have some creativity for gods sake!
The only team to actually do re-branding right in the last couple years was the Bucks. |

first wondered why they tilted the city skyline...
then wondered why they didn't use the real skyline...
....
then i saw they just didn't want to fill in the crown..
...reminds me of lorena bobbitt now also..
now i'm wondering if "ball crown" or "crowning the ball" are in urban dictionary

Yes but that's different than what the Kings have done here or from what the other thread is about.
Here the Kings have designed all new logos, jerseys, etc.
That thread is about new jersey styles, not new logos, similar the new jersey style we got when we transitioned to Staples center in 1999-2000.
The Hollywood Nights jersey (sleeved or unsleeved) is simply an alternate jersey. It's not a logo re-branding and it's not a new line of jerseys |
