D12 doesn't get that winning takes doing what's right for the team. To bad for him, I'd say... _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team !

I can't believe this freaking thread. Dwight Howard???? First of all, he's not leaving $23 million on the table to come play for the MLE, or even $10-12 million per year. Second of all, we're trying to teach our young players how to compete every night in the NBA. Dwight Howard might have "some" defensive skills left, but plays every game like he's running pick up at 24 Hour Fitness. Nobody likes him, diminishing skill set, and way too much baggage.
I don't get people that want to pay the max for DeRozan, Barnes, or Batum but don't want Howard
He shot a career high 62 FG% last year and averaged 12 rebounds a game.
The only reason not to sign him is if we definitely got Whiteside... but I think other than maybe attitude Dwight is still a better player.
I don't think that Dwight would clash with this particular roster.
Dwight can score and rebound. but his footwork is atrocious and he is not very skilled. on top of that he doesn't have the winning mindset that some of these other star players have. He just wants people to like him.

If Dwight Coward wants to crawl back to LA for $5 mil a year... then I would consider him to strengthen our bench... otherwise, he can take a hike.
The NBA has witnessed Coward's ceiling (no real post up game, no real outside shot, and declining athleticism)... unlike players like Drummond or Whiteside. I would much rather go after those two than an aging retread like Coward. _________________ A three headed monster... Jeannie, Pelinka, and Ham... another terrible season.
Yeah right nobody want him back in LA. But hey if he came for 10 mil a year who could turn that down ? Not happening.
He isn't going to leave Houston for 1/2 as much money. If he is going to leave, its for a max offer, I just can't see any team giving him the type of money for 4-5 years at this stage of his career.

My guess is he leaves and gets somewhere around 4 years x 22 Million from either Orlando or Atlanta (if Horford leaves). Local talk is Orlando will go after Conley and Howard (or Horford) this summer. Say what you will, but add that pair to Orlando's young roster and they are in the top 4 of the east overnight.

I believe that would be a slight pay increase. I can see him leaving on those terms. Plus the fact he goes back east where the path to the conference finals is much easier no doubt will be a big allure for him to leave. That and the fact he no longer has to watch Harden take most of the possessions on the team.....

I think you're delusional. Not sure how you can say that with confidence since he has clashed with every team he's been on. Prior and after Kobe. You think our our young guys are gonna command respect from him? If I know D12, and I think I do, what he's thinking is that we have a bunch of puppies, and he can be a big dog finally.

I think the substantive disconnect relates to basketball knowledge. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel

Dwight isn't a guy with any real basketball skills-- he was just a freak athlete. He can't pass. He can't shoot. Low basketball IQ (and actual IQ, too). Not great at setting screens. He could just jump really high. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
If he is STILL insistent on being a post player then NO. If he's willing to be a pick and roll offensive player then I would CONSIDER it along with a much lower price tag. I think he would thrive in a motion offense if he wasn't so insistent he's the next Hakeem. _________________ Do you believe it now, Trinity? - Morpheous

It's funny that everybody thinks that they would take Howard at a reduced price.
He is not coming at a reduced price. He is not a fit for this generation of basketball. Mitch and Jim don't want to be the imbeciles who settle for him. Again.
