I would rather Luke try to take Ron Adams away from GS if I had my choice _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |

according to who? did POP actually say this? or is this the media steering it? I don't know... when Phil was here he had guys in specific role for the job. what is Becky Specialty? is she an offensive guru? a defensive mastermind? is she good at motivating...what does she do exactly? |
All I know about her is she did an excellent job in the 2015 summer league. |

I would suggest Luke hire assistants who are not familiar to the present team. The old saying "familiarity breeds contemp." and these kids need to be aware the coaches aren't going to cut them slack if they get out of line. Luke needs to adhere to the coaching he did at Golden State. It brought him success why change what brought you to the dance? |

Kerr said he trusts that Luke will put together a really good staff. And he meant something when he said that (might have been a little shot at BScott) |

Former head coaches don't want to go back to be assistants. There are some few that have gone back but that is typically because they are two things going and not employed. Much of it has to do with coaching tree. If your from Popovich's you will always have a shot on someone's bench. If your from Phil's coaching tree you can't get a job. Blatt might be available if he doesn't get a job, because no Frank Vogel is available. You can forget Ron Adams he's 68 this is his last job. Martin Collins is the next Luke. So I doubt any high level assistants come down south.
To address the Becky hammon concern. By all accounts from media and players she is a highly respected assistant, on a team that had the 2nd best record in the league. From Popovich she is a tireless worker a wealth of basketball knowledge and a high basketball IQ. Plus if popovich wants her we should recognize game.
Get the best available and make it work with who ever is available. |

Did we run a lot of HORNs out of Byron? I don't recall, but I feel like it'd be fun to watch with the young guys, JC, DLo, Brown, Julius, and Nance. Also, I wouldn't mind if Shaw came back. I'd like to see us pursue Bickerstaff also. |

I don't get the hate for Shaw other than his Phil connection. He was an assistant for two great teams. |

Shaw was regarded as a good assistant coach, the players in Indy loved him. He will come in handy when we trade for Paul George. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

I don't want anything close to resembling the over rated triangle. I know Walton said he won't run it...but I don't want any Jax influence. |

Shaw's mistake was trying to implement a system in Denver, which was clearly suited to run and gun. I think he is still a highly respected coach, specifically as an assistant. |

Exactly. PG and West even called out the Nuggets players for not responding to him.
PG also credits Shaw for his emergence as a star.

Brian Shaw and Paul George have a very, very good relationship lol. |

Almost guarantee Shaw will be back in LA as his head assistant. I like it. Walton, Shaw, Madsen, good trio. _________________ Because we're better than you! |

He also coached Denver, so I guess we're going after Gallinari. |

Wouldn't bother having Shaw back as an assistant. Luke's calling the shots, after all. |

People don't like the Shaw thing not because I think they view him as a bad assistant, rather that it just feeds the theory that Jackson is swooping in to president role in 2017. Walton/Shaw would be a very easy transition under a new regime.
Although I don't think for a moment that is the reason Luke was hired, or the reason that Luke wants Shaw. It's becuase of the familiarity. They may have learned a ton from Phil, but doesn't mean they will be Phil. Shaw never ran the Triangle in Denver. He ran elements of it, just like Luke says he will in LA or Kerr in GST. I mean you have 3 coaches there, all whom know the Triangle, and all 3 won't or have not run the Triangle. The 2 successful ones get associated with someone other than Phil, Shaw on the other hand gets associated. Beats me. |
