I am thinking of purchasing one so i can ride it for 4-5 miles to the train station before and after work. of course i can get a bike, but that is too boring...anyone have any recomendation for certain brands or models? i would like to spend around $1000-1200.

I bought one off amazon for $319 with free shipping for my sis' bday. I can provide the link if you need it.

They take about 15-20 minute of to get used to riding then it becomes second nature. They are A LOT of fun. I even played basketball on it

Only draw back I can see is they don't have shocks so you feel every bump in the sidewalk. And they're a little heavy to carry/easily stolen. But you can get a carrying bag for like $20.

Ahh I see you are looking for more of an electric skateboard. I was talking about those two-wheeled self balancing boards. Pretty much a mini Segway w/o handles. They go up to 10mph, not 20mph like the zboard

I like that the z-bard doesnt have a hand controlled remote like the boosted board. (Maybe you can run the boosted board without the remote though, I have no experience with it.)

I am interested in an airwheel or phunkee duck, but I see the phunkee duck costs $1500 while the knock off version only costs $350. Anyone have experience with either?

wow the phunkee duck @ $1500 is crazy....although u can say the same thing about the boosted board....i think for an electric board it is justifiable (for me anyway) since it is a legit means of transportation. for something like these kind of "hover boards" or mini-segways, i see these like an indoor toy...probably wouldnt want to spend more than $500 personally.

there really are no knock off versions of the phunkee duck. It's the same components in the $1500 one vs the $350 ones on amazon. They're just re-branded or re-shelled (the plastic case on the outside). The one I bought for $319 shipped is the same thing. I feel sorry for the people that don't know any better and shell out $1500 for them. They are incredibly fun and I plan on buying another one

the skateboards are different. I think you did fine there. Those are more legit forms of transportation vs. just toys for the mini segways "hoverboard" things.

No worries

If anyone is interested....boosted board just announced a version 2! I just preordered mine...if you would like to order one, we can both save $100 if you use my referral link below

http://boostedboards.com/?ct-referral-code=44lXuBSE

If this isn't allowed, mods please delete. Just wanted to pass on the news (and potential savings) to those that are interested in this board! Main benefit here is the 12 mile range!

Technical question: do the batteries still charge after you turn 15?

My E-Go just arrived last night. I decided it was the best way to get me to and from the new Expo line stations so I can take the train to my current gig (evening traffic out of Santa Monica is a nightmare - especially with the train now running). A bike just seemed like to much hassle.

I looked at the Boosted board, but realized the E-Go was plenty good for what I needed for less than half the price - plus the Boosted is not currently (no pun intended) available.

E-go is good for like 90% of all Boosted owners...I like having the ability to go up hills in SF tho...not that I do it very often . Maybe once every 2 months

Believe me. I'd have bought the Boosted if I could have justified it financially. I almost did until it wasn't immediately available. For my purposes, hills aren't going to be an issue. And as a guy with a wife who is shaking her head at the purchase, if I actually bite it one day, I'm better off doing so at 12 MPH, than 20.
