Quote: | Trail Blazers hire former Sonics announcer Kevin Calabro
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland Trail Blazers have hired veteran television broadcaster Kevin Calabro as their new play-by-play announcer.
The announcement Friday comes two days after the team said on-air personalities Mike Barrett and Mike Rice wouldn’t return next season.
Calabro was the TV and radio announcer for the Seattle SuperSonics for 21 years but didn’t join the team when it moved to Oklahoma City in 2008. He has since worked for various national media outlets, including ESPN Radio and Turner Broadcasting, while based in the Pacific Northwest.
Blazers President and CEO Chris McGowan says the team is conducting a nationwide search for a color commentator to join Calabro.

I'm guessing its closer to where he resides now I figured he'd return home to Indy but there's not enough for him and Dave(his brother who's the sports guy for our NBC affiliate) |

I so hoped he would replace Chick, but it never happened. He's the best play-by-play man working. No one's even close. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

With Spero, the Lakers told him he couldn't do any of the NFL games or so he decided to head back east. Calabro would also want some freedom to call NCAA games, TNT games, and others so it probably wouldn't be a good fit even though he's a superior announcer.
I was hoping for either Kevin Harlan or Kevin Calabro, but it's not happening. Jeanie prefers to hire her friends, so Billy Mac and John Ireland aren't likely to be going anywhere, anytime soon. |

He also calls the Indy 500 as well. I know Seattle fans have to be sick about him announcing Blazers gams now |
