With the draft we have had of Ingram and Zubac, there is a great chance that we can get a combination of some top tier all star caliber veteran talent we can possibly be on track for a 55 win team in two years, however if somehow someway the sophmores and the rookies play to a better than expected level, then there is no threshold that's not at least a playoff birth, that's where they need to be, in the playoffs learning how to dominate other teams as Lakers Dynasty in the past have, so too will this core of new generation possible greatness

Q. Would the turnaround of 38 games be the best turnaround in NBA history?

anybody have the answer to this question?

The answer is no. A rookie Larry Bird helped the Celts improve by 32 games. They were a 29 win team one year and a 61 win team the next, the best record in the league.

2006-07 Boston Celtics: 24-58

2007-08 Boston Celtics: 66-16

42 games and a championship. Wasn't even that long ago.

So it has been done recently and there is no reason why we couldn't improve in a significant way with the addition of some great veteran talent

Unless Jerry west manages to convince the Warriors to trade us klay and curry for zubac I don't see that.

I'd say, the only possible way to turn around that drastically would be to get 3 max guys in here. Durant for sure, Horford because of his veteran experience and skill set from a chemistry standpoint to consistency. And then Derozan.

Unfortunately word is Durant isn't going to give the Lakers a chance to interview and Derozan is staying in Toronto. A line up of:

Horford
Durant
Ingram
Derozan
Russell

That lineup work well together with Luke coaching. It is too bad the free agents available wont even listen to see if that lineup could work.

Only because they had a GM that was secretly working for the Celtics.

Even if they sign Whiteside, this roster won't make the playoffs....too much young inexperienced players.

If you want to be optimistic, the 22, 23, and 27 win turnarounds of the Hornets, Suns, and Thunder came without the benefit of adding an all star player in free agency. All involved coaching changes, though Brooks was already an interim coach the previous season.

If the Lakers can win 38 games total I would be amazed and satisfied. That's a huge jump.

We'll see. But I know KG and Jesus Shuttlesworth are walkin through that door.

...sounds like some sort of workout regimen.

Step 1. Learn to play under a clear and proven defensive system.
Step 2. Limited number of isos. Move the ball and give players touches inside/outside.
Step 3. Play to strengths while limiting exposed weaknesses.
Step 4. Stick with the gameplan, but be able to make adjustments on the fly.
Step 5. Improve everyday. (physicially, emotionally, mentally)

I'm always more optomistic than most, but I don't believe I'm going overboard this year. I expect Ingram to be an immediate star, possibly L.A.'s best rookie since Worthy, maybe the most effective since Magic. He gives them an inside postgame, consistent outside shooting, a guy who finishes over or around going right or left, an effective fastbreak piece, and a lengthy valuable defender of multiple positions.

Expected Improvements, imo:
Small fwd,
Russell & Randle (significant),
Nance and Clarkson, possibly Brown (moderate),
coaching,
system....inlcluding running and small ball,
Sign Whiteside =
Quality at every position with no holes. They should win 42+.

Better shooting/ability to score from Randle, Nance, Clarkson, and Brown makes this team tough.

c'mon you guys. Just yesterday I was trying to convince myself that 35-40 wins was realistic . That is this team's threshold imo.

Anything over 30 games would be a bonus but I don't really mind the record honestly.
I just don't want us to be falling behind by 20 every other game and have to claw our way back during garbage time when the other team couldn't care less.
As long as we hang in there more often than not I'll be satisfied

Boston did it by adding two Hall of Famers to a third Hall of Famer who missed half the previous season.

I'll be happy if we get up to 30 wins.

If we have a sold free agency (Whiteside/Parsons), I believe 45 wins and battling for a 6-8 seed would be realistic.

Shades of LeBron Randle and Steph Russell .... so is this Kevin Ingram?

Plus they had 3 Hall of Famers in their prime
