Thank goodness Jon didn't have Melisandre killed. Her fine ass needs to stick around to the very end. http://i.imgur.com/D5b1ioI.gifv _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts! |

Rhaegar is Jon Snow's actual father (with Lyanna Stark). Rhaegar first crowned Lyanna Stark the "queen of love and beauty" after wining a jousting tournament (like Loras did with Sansa in Season 1), and soon after "abducted" Lyanna, who was betrothed to Robert Baratheon at the time. This is what started "Robert's Rebellion", the war in which Robert came to be king. During the war, Rhaegar was killed by Robert, and the Mountain (at Tywin's command) killed his children and assaulted & murdered Rhaegar's wife Elia Martell (Oberyn "The Viper" Martell's sister). This murder of their children is what drove Ned to protect Jon from Robert (and later council Robert from attempting to assassinate Daenerys).
Since Daenery's is his father's sister, this makes Jon Daenery's nephew (and her his aunt). However, the Targaryens have a long history of marrying family members (frequently siblings). |
Hard to believe Jon is only a year older than Daenerys. It's too bad they didn't stick with Tamzin Merchant for the role. Emilia Clarke looks like she's still stuck in middle school. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Isn't the dude following Brienne Robert Baratheon's son?
So Jon Snow, Brienne's pupil and now Jamie/Tyrion are the next in line for the throne by birth? I'm lost |
Nephew.
No, that's Gendry. He's on hiatus.
By Targaryen lineage, Daenerys and Jon would be first in line, then Gendry via Robert. |
It's technically be Jon and then Dany, as sons of firstborn sons are before second sons and daughters. |
Aye, but Jon has no ambition to rule the seven kingdoms. _________________ Character

It took me two months to get that image out of my head. And now it's there again. Thanks. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts! |

If the Mountain's assault was not sexual in nature why would he feel the need to remove his helmet? Right? |

Already addressed earlier in the thread. There were ships from the Martell and Tyrell fleet so they met up with the Targaryan fleet on the way to King's Landing. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

The show's various scenes don't happen in real time. Larger amounts of time elapse than are shown in the transition from scene to scene. Thus Jaime isn't in the north when Cersei unleashes the wildfire, and magically arrives the next day. What happened in the north happened earlier. Similarly, when Varys left on his mission (to Dorne as it turns out), Dany had just roasted one of the slavers' ships with her dragons. Yet in this episode those ships have been refitted, outfitted, with newly painted sails, and then the armada sailed (and even a significant part of the voyage takes place off camera). Hence, quite some time had elapsed. And when she sailed toward Kings Landing, she went right past Dorne, so Varys could have met them on the way.
It is easy to fall for seeing all things as simultaneous, but they aren't. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Isn't it weird to see Varys all of the sudden with Danaerys when they haven't even had a scene together and she presumably hated him until maybe when Tyrion suggested he helped her? |

The Hand of the Queen vouched for him.
If she can't trust him on personnel decisions then what good is Tyrion for? |

I need a fact checker here.
I understand Jon is Daenerys nephew. Since Jon was Rhaegar's son, does that make him heir to the throne since he is the male offspring? Or does Daenerys have seniority because she's his aunt?
Also, I'm sensing a Bran induced intervention before Jon and Daenerys get the wrong idea about each other.
Lastly, where did Ned pull the name "Snow" from? Apologies if it was explained and I missed it.
Thanks guys. This thread is awesome. I'm going to watch the finale again right now. |

I seem to recall that Snow was the name typically applied to bastard children. Not sure I am recalling correctly though. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Correct. The last name for bastards depends on region.
North - Snow
Aery - Stone
Dorne - Sand
etc, etc. |

That's correct.
Bastard children from the North are all given the surname Snow. That's why when we first met Ramsey, his name was Ramsey Snow until Roose Bolton legitimized him legally.
Bastard children from Dorne are all given the surname Sand. I forget the rest of the regional surnames for bastards. I think in the Reach they used Flowers. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |
