With KD going to the Warriors Westbrook is all but gone. I would prefer to sign him outright as a FA but we've seen that 5th year come into play (though ironically KD/horford out).

Thoughts?

Ugh on cousins. Keep Ingram.

Man what an opening for the Lakers. Maybe Russ says only team he wants is the Lakers.

I don't think Westbrook will stay more than a year if we trade for him.

I'm torn about trading for him but if I'm DLo I'd start calling a real estate agent in Okc.

I think Westbrook's gone in a year IMO. I would call OKC and ask about his availability.

You trade for him he goes away

You don't trade for him he doesn't come

what lakers need to focus on is winning games. Then players come

that being said, if trading Russell for Russell makes us win significantly more games, then we should do it, because it would pave the path for more players to come

Random thought.... Lakers are sitting on $20m in cap space...Westbrook makes $18M

DLo + cap space for Westbrook

Its going to cost Russell and Randle. Our roster would look like this.

Westbrook
Clarkson
Ingram
Deng
Mozgov

Tough decision but I don't think I would do it.

KD just opened the door. If it wasn't a goal already, I think we need to make this team an attractive option for Westbrook

That's probably the thinking, though I don't like a WB/JC pairing as much as WB/DLo. Maybe we can do something else. Randle, future 1sts and cap space? (And we can't trade JC right until later in the season)?

Optimally I'd like a core of WB/DLo/ Ingram best but those are obviously are best assets.

No thanks. I'm not a huge fan of Westbrook.

If we can get him as a FA, then yeah, but otherwise, no.

Wow...absolutely not. If Westbrook wants LA as much as some of you say he does, let hI'm come as a free agent in one year.

We are finally starting to crawl out the hole with a great young core and you guys want to trade that all away for a player who likely would not make us a contender anyways and might leave in a year? That's how teams collapse in the NBA.

Bro, he'll be a free agent. What's the point?

If we are good enough, he'll be swayed to join.

I would wait until JC is tradeable (dec 15?) to include him as a package trade. WB and DLo work better than WB/JC IMO.

Russell will have to be included in any Westbrook deal.

I don't see Westbrook staying. I think it means you don't lock into long term deals with anyone else. Lakers aren't winning jack for awhile. Frankly the Warriors will likely 3 peat or at least make the finals a few times in a row. So it's time to wait it out. Develop the young bucks. Not aim for more old players.

Even if the Lakers got Lebron today with the remaining cap... they'd get swept by Golden State. Just to put trading the youth into perspective.

Please don't let Westbrook become the new DeRozan around here.

We could wait until JC is tradeable IIRC in December.

My initial inclination is to say no trade. Wait. But I'm concerned about the FO acting in desperation.

Presti would want D'Lo. He's on a cheap contract for many years.

OKC likely wants DLO, not JC. They will ask for Ingram too. Be smart Lakers. Don't trade for Westbrook.

No need. If our guys show they can play he will come next year. Whether we trade for him or not he's testing free agency and as we see nothing is guarantee

Russell, Westbrook, Ingram, Randle, Mozgov sounds good to me.

And a reason why the lakers should wait for next year or trade other assets including future picks if they have to trade. Don't need JC and WB. Too much overkill for similar styled (though JC is not a contact player) player.
