Keep all assets, sign him next year. Don't want a carmelo situation when he guttted the knicks assets. If we sign him next year, we have the flexibility of using our assets to trade for other star players if we need to do so. |

I would rather keep DLO and trade Clarkson for Westbrook if we traded for him. I think a DLO/Westbrook backcourt is sicker and a Westbrook/Clarkson one _________________ "Bryant has been the second best player in the NBA for over a decade, but the number 1 player changes every other year. Don't trade for Westbrook... You have to make the team suited for him to come in. The Lakers need to make plans for our own "Core Four"...
Russell
Westbrook
Ingram
Cousins |

If we had to yes. I would be ok with JC/Randle/future 1st as my bottom line.
Absolute no to trading DLo/Ingram.
And if that means no WB until 2017 or not at all so be it. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Ehhh Sixers have more assets can easily trump the Lakers. They can trade everyone not named Simmons |

No why would we? Westbrook can come next year and we keep all the young guys.
They're gonna want the farm. Ingram, Russell, Randle, Clarkson, Nance Jr. and picks.
Then what reason does Westbrook have to stay? _________________ #CowboysNation

I would trade anyone on the team other than Ingram or Russell, to bring in Cousins... |

OKC knows that he will likely be gone for nothing next year... so they might trade him below his value. I'm happy trading one of our guards and Randle... as well as throwing in Nick Young or Lou Williams... but Ingram is untouchable. |

No. It's too much of a risk and he might walk because of dysfunctional ownership. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Yep. As people have pointed, there's nothing to be gained by giving up assets acquired to get Westbrook, because there's no moves to make that make the Lakers better than the GSWs at this point.
Trading for Westbrook is a stupid move. Especially when there's no guarantee he stays after next season. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Those posts trading youth for Westbrook, what would it accomplish? Do you really need to watch 4-11 more laker games next season? Because that's the only thing you gain. You might get past a 1st round team if you got super lucky (see Portland) and then get rolled by whoever is next.
If anything this shows more futility to the LENGTH (not the players signed) but the LENGTH of the deals offered to Moz and Deng. If I was Mitch, I'd be calling up their Agents this morning and see if they'd accept 1-2 years max instead. Because maybe in 2 years if a bunch of cap is free the Lakers could somehow create a window. _________________ How can I get a copy of a Laker game played on Sunday, March 11, 2001 Sonics/Lakers? Rumors about Westbrook to LA (eventually) have been going on for years-- where there is smoke, there is fire.
I think you have to look at it as follows:
1) Keep all the guys we have and maintain cap next summer in hopes you impress him with the young guys and he signs.
2) Trade for him (Russell + Ingram is probably the cost) and hope that he has no desire to leave despite a relatively low talent level
3) You trade every young asset we can to bring in WB plus an other star like Goerge or Cousins to form a du. The problem is that we probably don't have enough assets to make two major trades happen |

The key question that we have to ask ourselves, is the L.A. connection real or a myth? ...and if it isn't real... how many viable competitors for his services will there be next year? If there are a lot of people that want him... maybe you have to give up something in a trade... if there isn't, then maybe you are patient and wait. Although if no one really wants him... that's a red flag that maybe we should consider too. |

I'm just trying to come from Jim/Mitch's perspective. If their jobs are as tenuous is rumored will they even have the shelf life to patiently lose for 2-3 years? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Cousins becomes relevant again on these forums. Dear god, no!
Damn it! Just when you think management was building something nice, his name will pop up now that people think we're trading for Westbrook. |

Like on one team not in NBA 2k.
You don't trade anyone younger than those guys at this point... You develop them. The west is on lockdown for 3-5 years. |

Good thing no one here a general manager. They trade away Ingram and Russell for a team that get killed by the Warriors in the playoffs next 3-4 years. |
That's the bit people are refusing to understand.
Gif the next 3 years at least, the lights are off.
I'm a little surprised so many are advocating for us to make a trade tbh. |

Laker fans are very impatient. No. We have a solid young group, that'll be really good for years to come if we are just patient. If we get Westbrook in free agency, next year, then cool, but why give away talent? We haven't even seen the players play under luke Walton, and we are already talking about trading them away.
