I guess Luke will let the Lakers know if he is worth it or not. _________________ "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."-The Greatest |

If he can play the 2, which I think he can, I would offer him 15-18 mil.
Landing him and Ingram would be great.
We could then work on adding Biyombo or a decent defensive center this year.
I'm beginning to think he is secretly a top target. Helping run Luke's system and being a #2 scoring option on our team make him very attractive. |

Harrison Barnes tied for the 46th best 3P FG% for the season with 38.3%. He doesn't really create for himself and hasn't expanded other parts of his game. He turned down a 4 year, $64 million ($16 million per year) contract with the Warriors and is seeking annual salary around $20 million. I don't think he has developed enough during the year to justify a $20 million contract, however, he might get one because of the increasing NBA salary cap.
Personally, I would give him $15 million per year with player option to have more playing time and be a focal point of the offense. Anything more and I think we should pass.
Danny Green signed a 4 years, $40 million contract with the Spurs.
Khris Middleton signed a 5 years, $70 million contract
DeMarre Carroll signed 4 years, $60 million contract
Wesley Matthews signed 4 years, $70 million contract
Tobias Harris signed 4 years, $64 million contract |

I think Monday's game 5 effectively answers the question. Barnes had the opportunity to step up and really help his team when they were short handed. Instead he laid an egg. I just don't see the guy as any more than an ordinary basketball player. He's sure to get over-paid this summer. I don't want the Lakers to be the team to do it. |

I don't think one bad game will drop him down from a 21m max to the numbers being kicked around here.

(bleep) yea its a bad idea. he can't create his own shot, so that means he has to be fed the ball, and his shot is nowhere near consistent, so there goes that. his defense is ok, but not $20+ million worth. i dont see it..i'd rather have warriors overpay for him. but jerry west is too smart for that and will advise against it |

He can't dribble, which means he can't create his own shot and he can't get to the rim and finish. He can only play the three because of his weak handles and we are probably about to draft a three, so no thanks. |

After watching him in the finals, he is not a max player. As others have pointed out, his ball handling skills are minimal, his shot is inconsistent and his defense is average at best, if you are generous.
Now, maybe he has something physical going on and is not at 100%, I haven't seen him play enough to know. But as of now, don't want him for anywhere near max. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!! - Twain |

The funny thing is that relative to his peers (Batum, parsons who all bowed out earlier in the playoffs or didn't play due to injuries), his weaknesses are exposed on a higher level.
Who knows how Batum/Parsons would have looked against Lebron. maybe we'd say the same thing about him too. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Harrison Barnes is very overrated. He shines because he is on a great team surrounded by talent.
The Lakers FO is making a huge mistake if they are even discussing offering Barnes a max contract. _________________ A three headed monster... Jeannie, Pelinka, and Ham... another terrible season. |

Hate to say it but he lost my confidence with his play in the Finals. If he would have played like that in the semi's I might still have some interest, but that level of play can't be condoned at the Finals level.
Needless to say he's still an intriguing prospect with his age and skill set. He could be a really good player possibly if given the right opportunity. But what you have when you look at Barnes is a player who is a product of his environment. With the Splash Bros. manning the 3pt line everyone on the Warriors thought it was cool to shoot 3's. But he's more of a mid-range player who can spread the floor but not necessarily a threat from 3.
I'd say we make it a point to go after him, but he's definitely not a MAX player. |

Looks like he'll go to the Mavs instead of taking less money and trying for a chance at the ring with the Lakers |
