The girlfriend's demeanor on the video was very strange. She's extremely calm for having just had bullets fired into her vehicle with, with her daughter sitting in the backseat, and isn't even comforting her dying boyfriend next to her.

Yeah, I thought that was strange as well.

I wasn't shocked she wasn't motioning toward her boyfriend because she woukd have been afraid of getting shot too.

I wish we could see the first part of what happened. I'm inclined to believe the girlfriends story though.

If the guy was going to do something, he wouldnt have said he was conceal carrying.

One other thing that seemed weird to me and maybe if anyone is versed in law enforcement they can comment but... if a person announces they have a weapon, permitted or otherwise, shouldnt the firsr thing the officer do is have that person step out of the vehicle?

Seems dangerous to let someone who has said they are armed, stay in a vehicle.where your sight is more obstructed.

The staff and students at the Montesorri school where the victim worked have spoken up about his charater, describing him as kind, gentle, soft spoken, patient and always polite.

This thug sure did work hard on his cover. Guess they'll let just any old criminal work at private schools these days.

He probably should have found a way to teleport out of the community at the end of the day. Clearly a black man with a broken taillight is a deadly threat to that small white suburb. Thankfully there was a white cop with a gun and who was willing to use it who was able to save the day from the threat of a cafeteria worker and his accomplices - his girlfriend and a 4 year old child. Poor cop must have been scared to death facing such a threatening traffic stop. He's the true hero.

Yep. There was a live Facebook on my feed from the montessori school where the Castile worked and the crowd was very diverse and possibly pre-dominantly white - AND there were families.

Minn. Driver Wouldn't Have Been Shot If He Were White: Gov. Dayton

LINK

Quote:
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton said he was "shocked and deeply, deeply offended" that an incident like this took place in Minnesota. He said the officer's response was "way in excess" for a traffic stop.

"Would this have happened if the driver and the passengers had been white?" he asked. "I don't think so."

CNN reporting the shooters were snipers shooting from a elevated position. This was planned.

It depends on department policy, situation and experience of the officer. If the officer feels the person is shady and his body language is strange they can have him step out.

CNN posted a picture of a Black man with a assault rifle slung over his shoulder.
He's dressed in a camouflage shirt and short pants. They're asking anyone who knows the person to contact local police. He's a person of interest.

You'll hear from them as soon as someone mentions a gun law change in relation to these shooting.

Of course not. For some reaso , the darker your color, the more of a threat you are. Officer panicked when he saw a brotha in Minnesota that wasn't from the Vikings or Twolves. And I think there lies the problem. Dude "accidentally" got popped four times.

Law enforcement is quick to reveal the background and arrest record of one killed by the police, slow to post the disciplinary records of the officer involved in a shooting.

I'd like to know if there were citizen complaints against the officer? How he interacted with the community? Did he have a record of abuse?

Man falsely connected to the shooting by Dallas police is now getting ‘thousands’ of death threats

Way to go, CNN

Quote:
While the photo of Mark Hughes spread through the Internet, the pair were “laughing and talking” with police, Cory Hughes told a CBS reporter. But the mood took a turn when Mark Hughes was brought to an interrogation room. The Dallas Police Department later clarified that Hughes was a “person of interest,” who had turned himself in. As such he was held for 30 minutes, the Hughes brothers allege, until his release around 1 a.m.

While Hughes was being held, he said that police questioned him about why he wanted to shoot cops. After his release, Hughes told CBS 11 that the police said witnesses saw Hughes firing the rifle. That “is a lie,” Hughes said. “I mean at the end of the day, the system is trying to get me.” Cory Hughes said the police confiscated his brother’s clothes and gun.

Earlier that day, Dayton addressed protesters outside his home, calling the killing a "senseless tragedy." He said he spoke with President Obama's chief of staff, Denis McDonough, and said he would urge the U.S. attorney general and the head of the Justice Department's civil rights division to open whatever investigations they deemed appropriate.

When he said the incident was not the "norm in Minnesota," a protester responded, "It's normal for us."

Dayton was quiet for a moment after, but promised that "justice will be served in Minnesota."

If there was some legitimate vehicle of accountability, it wouldn't be coming to this. But as it stands, law enforcement has built a near impenetrable blanket of immunity from prosecution across this country. Well that has a price. And we're seeing it right now. No matter how much deference the court system shows cops, at the end of the day, they still gotta be on those streets, policing people who KNOW you can do anything you want without consequence. THAT is why the boiler is blowing out.

We need something akin to a special prosecutor's office, perhaps on a city or county-wide basis. We can't rely on DA's, as they in turn heavily rely on the police to help them investigate and prosecute.
