Created with DJI Phantom Drones, After Effects, Premier, Logic, GoPro, and a liberal interpretation of FAA regulations:

Our Drone Future explores the technology, capability, and purpose of drones, as their presence becomes an increasingly pervasive reality in the skies of tomorrow.

In the near future, cities use semi-autonomous drones for urban security. Human officers monitor drone feeds remotely, and data reports are displayed with a detailed HUD and communicated via a simulated human voice (designed to mitigate discomfort with sentient drone technology). While the drones operate independently, they are "guided" by the human monitors, who can suggest alternate mission plans and ask questions.

Specializing in predictive analysis, the security drones can retask themselves to investigate potential threats. As shown in this video, an urban security drone surveys San Francisco's landmarks and encounters fierce civilian resistance.

That sounds like something Reese would tell Sarah about the future. I'm trying to read that in Michael Beihn's dramatic voice.

"...and then the drones began to think for themselves..."

Oh yeah OBLIVION niiiice!

Still curious on how Amazon expects their drone airborn delivery service to work when there will certainly be drone hunters shooting those things down from the sky to swipe the packages they are carrying.

Palmdale or Lancaster has one (can't remember which). They use it when schools let out and into the evening every day.

Why? Most of the packages will likely be small, cheap items, the drones themselves will likely be difficult to track, and somehow I doubt most police will look too favorably upon people firing rifles at flying drones while trying to steal things. Amazon will also no doubt have cameras and gps systems tied to the drones, and maybe even a remote pilot controlling it to fine tune deliveries instead of relying solely on gps. The effort to try to steal the package would likely not be worth the contents. People swipe Amazon packages easily now by waiting for the delivery guy to leave it at the door step and taking it; far more effort for likely little gain going after he drones. And since the drones will apparently be able to deliver packages up to a half hour after the order was placed, the person who placed the order is far more likely to be home and available to receive the package than if it was shipped via conventional means.

Now, there are other huge obstacles in place before this could be put into practice, so I doubt we see it in widespread use anytime soon, but I would think theft would be a minor consideration in comparison to other logistical nightmares involved.

^^^Good to hear such a positive outlook on the very near future of drones in everyday civilian life, now just gonna have to hold out hope that the 21st century will also unveil the first hover/auto drive cars!

Anybody see Good Kill staring Ethan Hawk? LINK If drone technology is anywhere close to what the movie shows, drones are deadly and effective. It showed a drone hitting stationary and moving targets. There will be collateral damage. The movie showed operators waiting for people coming to aid the wounded then they launch another strike.
