How does ZUBAC fit in with the Lakers?
Any reason why this isn't stickied? |

Great job, GT! I finally got a chance to sit down with this and absorb it all.
I think Deng will bring a lot to the team. He will help erase a lot of the "on-court stupid" this team had most days last year. You did a great job pointing out those vet smart skills he has in this regard. Defensively, if Randle or Ingram aren't doing what they should, we've got a steadiness we can bring to those positions now. He will also fit in perfect with the insane length we can put together with this roster. The versatility we have with the trio of Ingram, Deng and Nance and how Luke plays with lineups should be fun to watch on D.
Offensively, maybe Nance can fill that stretch 4 role, maybe Randle has a great offseason and surprises with that. But with Deng, Luke has that guy he knows he can go to on any given night to help open things up for our guards with that spot. It will help Mozgov, too.
Also loved seeing Deng put his head down and get out in transition in this. Not sure if we will see the pace pickup here in the summer league, but guys are going to get down the floor fast next year. |

Since the talent level is much higher, the competition during the practices will be strategic in improving the team
Noting that the initial defense provided by DLO and JC might not be consistently good, hopefully Deng (along with AB) will be the designated stopper on the perimeter for short stints of PT.
If Luke is going to allow them to learn on the court, having Deng will help limit the DB-described "on-the-court stupidity" via Deng's Robert Horry-penned "veteranism."
Appears that Deng's PT should be between 30-32 MPG |
