Rest In Peace to Nate Thurmond, one of the best that's ever played in the NBA. My prayers and best wishes go out to his family. |
Quote: | ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo 1h
Nate Thurmond was called by Kareem as the best defender he faced, made All-Defensive 1st or 2nd Team five times. |
RIP. I had him on my classic fantasy team. He did me proud.

One of my dad's favorite players of all time. Thought he was criminally underrated. RIP |

He always made me nervous when we played him. He was a smart guy who got the best out of his skills. When all the young fans say there we no other good centers back in those days, I always think of guys like Nate and go, WTF are you talking about??? Thurmond, Lanier, Hayes, Issel, Bellamy, etc. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!! - Twain |

Before my time but I didn't realize he played on the Warriors and Cavs and I guess its fitting that was the last NBA Finals he saw.

The last 2 NBA Finals he saw!
And he had his jersey retired on both franchises. He was probably happy that they split the titles 1-1 |

Another big fellah gone too early.
I've had Nate in my top ten all-time centers ranking for a long time. Inclusion is based on era impact and level of play. Nate was one of the pro game's big three, in an era when the play of a quality center could still outweigh that of any other individual position. Loved to watch the guy play too.
William Felton Russell
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Wilt Chamberlain
Hakeem Olajuwon
Tim Duncan
Moses Malone
Nate Thurmond
Bill Walton
Shaquille O'Neal
Willis Reed
Just missing the top ten cut for me are Parish, Ewing, Robinson and Mikan. |
