This has to be a joke right? 
Smart is one of the worst shooters in the NBA and in two years he hasn't progressed. Two years of zero profession is enough to say he isn't gonna be an All Star or probably even better than an average NBA player.

They aer citing 538's model, but in 538's description of the model, they themselves say "On the flip side, there were CARMELO’s inexplicable crushes on Marcus Smart and Elfrid Payton, who will have to show significant improvement this season to live up to the system’s lofty expectations." |

Smart is an awesome defender. Unfortunately his shot hasn't shown a lot of improvement from Year 1 to Year 2, and his best offensive skill coming out of college (getting to the line) hasn't really translated to the pros. Still a little early to write him off.

| He definitely plays All-star defense. If he ever got his three point percentage to at least 35% it would change a lot of things for him. |
