Why would Indiana do that? They can get a better package than that. They'll ask for Russell/Ingram like OKC probably will.

And they won't get them, like OKC won't!

and of course, Zubac doesn't matter, so he shouldn't even be mentioned. If you included him in the trade, no thanks to that 3 for 1 deal.

Nah. Just give the youngsters 2 more years to develop and sign PG as a free agent in 2018.
Agreed, and free Zubac. Byron, is that you?

On opening night, something tells me that Russell and Randle won't be saying to themselves 'High praise from PG13 is cool and everything, but that KobeDGreatess guy on LG is who we REALLY need to go out here and prove ourselves to. Let's goooooo!' lol

Nah.

It was a great compliment. It wasn't Serena Winters fishing for Lakers compliments by asking him what he thought about Russell and Randle...Someone just asked him who he thought stood out, and he gave a good response. Said they made some mistakes, but didn't back down.

Depending on how Ingram develops we might not even need Paul George...I came away from summer league very impressed with Ingram.

I'd play one of them at SG. Move JC to the bench.

and Bush knocked down the towers.

Come on. Do you think somebody asked him who stood out from the select team and he instantaneously thought he should rep his agents other clients?

Get real.

Everyone had good things to say about them.. Cousins, Kyrie, Melo, Pop, Coach K, PG13, etc. Just be happy about that.

There are some packages I would consider for PG that I wouldn't consider for Westbrook. But not that it matters because PG likely isn't going on the block anytime soon.

Speaking of PG, part of the reason why I think signing Mozgov and Deng to 4 years with no option is bad.. is because PG could be leaving Indiana in 2 seasons, and we now might not have the cap room to sign him if that is the case. Same goes for Boogie.

Yeah we have space for one max, but I think 2018 Boogie + PG was actually a reasonable pipe dream, because the young players will have aged enough to be attractive to free agents, especially with the prospect of pairing with another star. And in 2018 all of the youngsters minus Clarkson will have rookie scale cap hits/ holds (Randle is due for an extension but you can sign him after-the-fact with Bird rights)

That said, I think Mitch & Jim said (bleep) it, building a culture and chemistry with the same guys instead of a revolving door of salary placeholders was better than the hope of two max free agents down the line.

I don't mind not getting Boogie anyways. As long as we have space for PG in 2018 I'm happy.

Having our three players picked for the Select Team was a huge gift. It gave our guys an opportunity to go up against some of the best, but more importantly, they earned the respect of these elite players and coaches. The bonds and relationships made during USA Basketball (and All Star Games) have played a big role in forming "Super Teams." If our young core continues to improve and impress, we will be able to attract top tier FAs in the coming years.

Yup, and it negates the negative narrative against DLO/Jules that I see from most national media...since I mean, Coach K and company saw fit to invite them (and now they're being praised by future Laker Paul George).

We would be extremely fortunate if he becomes a Laker. Please!! He is a truly legit talent.

I think Paul George is a very underrated top 5 player in this league. I would take him over Steph, Westbrook, Irving, and maybe even Durant. I think he brings more to a team then Durant can, just imo.

I bet Paul has a great year this year. Two years removed from that horrific injury.

i agree! He's more aggressive than Durant, who plays like he's afraid to get a PG injury. He's gotta get off that team, though. Look at durant joining the warriors, sheesh. you know what would be cool, if george joined the thunder and won a ring before durant. lol.

If I was drafting a team from scratch in today's nba. I would take Lebron number one and George at number two.

Lakers have positioned well and wisely imo. They have a ton of upside talent, and the vets they got are designed to teach and compliment it without usurping it, with a max slot open as the team starts to head in the right direction for attracting free agents.

If Butler shifts over to the 3 to accommodate Wade at the 2 in Chicago, Paul George would barely crack the Top 5 at his primary position. In fact, I would take LeBron, Kawhi, Durant and Butler over PG13 without much deliberation. His inside-the-arc shooting is significantly below par, and coupled with his atrocious assist/turnover ratio, average rebounding rate, and the fact that only Durant might be a lesser defender, I'll pass on this guy.

I cannot imagine any likely scenario where any of the 30 NBA GMs would take George in the Top 5 overall, including Kevin Pritchard ...
