Steve Ballmer wants his own arena and looks like the Clippers will move out of Staples center soon!
I wanted them to move back to Seattle but that is a start of something good. At least the Lakers don't have to share Staples with the Clips anymore.

There is already a thread about this, and Clippers lease in Staples runs until 2024. So if they do move, it won't happen for almost a decade or so. |

They can move to that Superfund site in Carson that is no longer in play for an NFL stadium....would fit them perfectly... |

Quote: | Sources with knowledge of the Clippers' lease agreement said that, in many regards, the team operates as Staples Center's "third tenant," a condition that's becoming increasingly tiresome to the organization. The Clippers receives a smaller share of proceeds from suites and club seats than the Lakers and Kings, according to sources, and a lesser say in scheduling and the overall fan experience at the arena. |
That kinda happens when you don't put up any money in the project. I remember the Buss family gave up 25% ownership in the Lakers to AEG when they were doing the Staples Center project. Clippers, under Donald Sterling didn't put up any money and ended up moving in as a renter as the 3rd team with a very favorable lease, something like $1 million a year. |

Go be the Santa Ana Clippers, or Victorville Clippers, or something. The Lakers are the NBA team of Los Angeles. _________________ -Avenue of the Champions- -RIP Dr Buss- #824 |

this is just a ploy that Ballmer is using to get the clippers to Seattle. He said he wants a site on the westside, close to westwood.... like hell he will get a stadium approved in that area, no way no how! So when he fails he will just use it as an excuse to move them to Seattle... |

There is no open parcels of land on the westside...he would basically have to buy out entire blocks from people that live there already. Don't see how that is possible unless they build the arena next to the ocean like what the Warriors are doing. |
