The young guys on our team are going nuts with their hair lately. I don't get it.
I like DLO and Randle's hair more during their draft days then nowadays. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”
THing with basketball is that being bigger, isn't better.
If this was some strongman comp, than yea, bigger is better, but basketball is not the case.
Being bigger absolutely does matter in basketball. Height, Length, Strength, those are very important things when battling for rebounds, fighting for position, or getting your shot off on offense. You'd hope he doesn't lose any explosiveness as he does.
That's being taller and longer. However, Randle imo is too big.
When your that big/muscular, your stamina will be difficult to maintain in a game of basketball. Hence, why most people that play bball aren't the biggest guys in the world. Last season, Randle went by doing very little in terms of dirty work or playing defense and stamina wise, wasn't able to be effective all game around.
Shaq being bigger than everyone helped.
I think it was being so quick and explosive what made him so dominant and virtually unstoppable when he was at his peak.
There has been bigger players, not a single one moved like he did.

I don't know about more explosive. There was a time during Nike Hoop Summit (?) where he looked like an absolute man child.
He's already grabbing rebounds at an elite rate. I'll believe explosiveness is improving when he's flat out dunking on people, instead of holding back with touch shots.
Good to see you back around!
While the topic of his vertical explosiveness has ramped up in this thread @pjiddy @nyclaker @kikinga
He's never been the guy to dunk right over guys in the halfcourt.. he doesn't have a good standing vert, needs a great running start.
If you're expecting him to dunk on guys when he does his drive and gets walled off outside the dotted line, that's just too far out and too much contact. https://vine.co/v/iUxgMI7WQtL Even Deandre Jordan here wouldn't dunk this. Even though he fumbled the ball, look at how the body contact hindered his jump. And right at the rim, Randle doesnt palm the ball and just extend it right to the rim - and his 2 step vert is considerably lower than a guy like Bass.
I want to see some crafty wing-player type layups.. Maybe he can improve his standing vert to a close to Bass level..

I work 60-70 hour weeks. Love my job though.
This is when I remember Randle being explosive. We got a few glimpses last year when he would do a baseline move and dunk/reverse jam on the other side of the rim.

I'm hoping. Lots of Superman dunk drills for that. It's kinda sad that the 63% finishing rate at the NCAA level didn't directly translate to the NBA level, even if he played A LOT more in the post at Kentucky. He had a few finishes with ball spin. NBA level, those things are rimming out for offensive boards. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Define athletic peak, because I would argue his most athletic years were the first two years in the league. Unreal rebound rate/block rate.

Damn son that's lots of work! Enjoyable if u love it though, congrats.
Yea since day 1 you've mentioned that's the lowered weight you want him at. I still don't think he was a dunk over you type guy..
