As far as I'm concerned, this community seems to benefit greatly from the stewardship of DB and the informed poise of moderators like LC. Tip 'o the cap to both ...
I actually attended the Sports Business Classroom this year. Couldn't recommend it more-- an insane, intense, in-depth experience from both a fan and networking perspective. Larry Coon is the man-- a really nice guy who put together the program as a labor of love.
Tons of guest speakers ranging from Adam Silver himself to Daryl Morey, Masai Ujiri, Scott Brooks, and Mike D'Antoni (who, despite his reputation here, was candid and thoughtful).
And of course, Larry is the great, just one of the nicest guys who really set the tone of collaboration and learning for the week.

Kind of wish they would have pointed out that Lakersground helped him a great deal in the early days.
Without LG, I have my doubts if he would have ever caught on like he has.
As awesome a job as he has done. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!! - Twain
“You think you know something? You really want to know it?” Coon says. “Explain it to others.”
My man.
Sig worthy quote.
It's absolutely true too. When I was in college, the classes I did best in were also ones where I'd be tutoring people in study groups. You really have to know your (bleep) to teach it to someone else.
Can Larry advise the Lakers on how they should not try to fill their salary cap with large inflated contract with marginal players? _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”

He's absolutely right. Writing things down forces you to inspect your own logic and your assumptions. You're giving to others and at the same time fire proofing your own knowledge base.
It's too bad he won't monetize his site. Think about it, most of the folks visiting are men. He could get rich selling porn banner ads!
Thanks all, much appreciated. It's funny -- this is now the fourth big piece that has been done on me, and it's always amusing to see what writers pull out of an extended conversation (in this case he spent an entire day with me), to build a specific narrative they want to tell.

Thanks! I was hoping the piece was going to be more about SBC and less about me, but I'm at the mercy of the story the writer wants to tell.
Still searching for the right balance of content vs. speakers. We had 43 guests this year (although some were in panel discussions and for special tasks like serving as CBA 401 experts and in "three questions" in the CBA Deep Dive, so the total is a little misleading), which is probably a little over the top. Still, couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab Adam Silver when I had the chance...
It's also funny how much juggling the guest list takes. Masai was a last minute replacement for Bryan Colangelo (and a great one -- he knocked it out of the park). Daryl was in, then out, then back in again. Etc...
