Why do LG vets post more in OFF Topic than the Lakers Lounge?

For me there is too much of a hive mentality in the Lounge. Mozgov contract, Nick Young, Lou Williams and it's mostly negativity. You have that here in the political thread but it's not as prevalent overall. Y0ou don't need to read more than about one page of any thread in the Lounge and you will have the sense of the board anything else is anathema. Doberman 1 anyone?

Much of what takes place in the Lounge these days isn't really a discussion of the Lakers as much as it is people engaging in their personal favorite cliches and memes despite the realities of the Lakers and the NBA. Intellectual thought is secondary to that and the discussions get buried in nonsense like Jim Buss can't be a decent owner because he wears a baseball cap. And it should be pointed out that there are LONG time members of the board who feed that same intellectual dishonesty and ridiculousness.

This, plus what Mule, rwongega and a few others have posted.

The Lounge is a total gongshow. I actually feel bad for the mods that have the roam the premises over there.

As for the OT forum: We have many intelligent posters on this board who are fun to discuss many topics with, whether it be other sports, investing, new movies, etc. Many of us have been posting here (and some of us at the old LT) for years, so there is a unique virtual bond that tends to develop as well.

If I ever post in the Lounge nowadays, it's in PDTP.

It's pretty much my version of social media.

We cover topics ranging from current news events (local and global) to which method we prefer best to help dispatch pubes. It's great!

I've also got some really great tips and advice for vacation spots/activities and bars / restaurants to check out.

Same reasons everyone else has posted. Have you been to the lounge? It's a masturbatory (bleep) of inside jokes, memes, and twitter links between the same 10 posters. Every topic devolves into argument --- and its the SAME argument time and time again.

Off-topic has its problems --- mostly a lesser version of the ones described above -- but at least there's something new every day.

The lounge, LG in a whole, changed over the years. I think we've had a influx of younger posters. The old nuts and bolts debates are few and far between.

Fortunately LG is so diverse you have many avenues to connect with other posters. If you're fortunate you can become a PDTP family member.

Talking about the Lakers with strangers on the internet is only fun when the Lakers are fun.

I cannot stand the Lounge. It has devolved into tiresome, repetitive arguments and group-think stupidity from many of the presumably younger posters.
