Kwame Brown signs with new agency, aiming for NBA comeback

After three seasons out of the NBA, one of the most infamous former No. 1 overall picks in league history is ready to make a comeback. Kwame Brown has signed with Interperformances to represent him, and the agency says he’s hoping to land on an NBA roster (via Sportando).

““The #1 overall pick of the 2001 draft is ready for a new life. His comeback can be the road to glory for a team that believes in him. Kwame is back, physically healthy and ready to be the outstanding player he was on several NBA teams.
A great intimidator that can block shots , rebound consistently and explode in devastating dunks. No longer the young man that entered the NBA, Kwame is now an experienced and mature player and man. And he’s back, for the love of the game””

Brown was the top overall pick in the 2001 draft, when Michael Jordan was the general manager of the Wizards. A center straight out of high school, he never lived up to the hype of that draft slot, but eventually carved out a decent career as a backup big man playing for seven different franchises. He last played in the NBA in 2012-13, for the Sixers. But at 34 years old, with this much time out of the league, it’s going to be difficult for him to break back in for anything more than a training camp invite or maybe a 10-day contract in January.

If Sasha Vujacic and Yi Jianlin can come back to the NBA, why the hell not Kwame Brown?

In this watered down centers pile, being tall, ambulatory, and having a pulse is enough to get you a job on a team somewhere.

After his first retirement from the league Jordan acknowledged that Kwame taught him everything he knows about comebacks.

Are you sure this isn't a publicity stunt for the film, Hands of Stone?

His whole time with us I wanted to see some fight. He's showing some by wanting to endure ridicule, doubt, age, etc. so more power to him. Go for it.

The signing would've gone a lot smoother if he didn't keep dropping the pen.

Sigh.

Yep. I heard Kwame once dropped the hand of a GM who tried to shake it.
