I can't believe we got Ingram still.

In a few years, will be an all-NBA defender who can drop 22-23 ppg on you, while guarding 3-4 positions and being a Swiss Army knife on both sides of the ball.

What puzzles me is this ....

Ingram is supposed the next surefire superstar. But he is objectively rated half a tier below Simmons. Yet 2016 is deemed to be a weaker draft than both 2015 (KAT, Porzingod, Russ, Booker and Turner) and 2017 (Fultz, Jackson, Giles and Tatum) in term of superstar talent.

How do they add up.

Umm. No one had porky/Booker/turner as sure fire stars this time last year. These draft class projections are just that.

2015 was loaded. It will yield superstars level guys/names (Towns, Russ, Booker, KP), sporatic all stars (Turner, Okafor, Mudiay, Jokic) all world defenders (RHJ, Winslow, Johnson, WCS), super role plays (Nance, Lyles, Portis, Christmas)

I think that will prove to be quite the special draft-- every bit on the same level as 96 and 04.

2016 will have some superstars (Simmons) and some studs: Dunn, Ingram and then some steals too (Zubac, McCaw, etc.) but I think overall it's going to be somewhat underwhelming.

2014 the jury is still out on-- all the top prospects have missed significant time except for Wiggins: Embiid, Randle, Parker, Exum, Gordon. We'll see how that plays out...

Yep and if 2017 pans out will be better than all 3 of these drafts.

Brandon Ingram will show enough flashes to tantalize Lakers fans

Los Angeles’ shiny new lottery pick will try to make an immediate impact in his rookie season, but the purple and gold faithful should focus their expectations on growth over results.

I don't know much about the 2017 class but from what I've read it seems like many of the top prospects really can't shoot. Josh Jackson doesn't impress me at all. Giles has already had two ( ) ACL tears. I think this class is slightly overrated and will be closer in talent to the 16 draft.

It is worth noting that even if the 2016 draft class may be top heavy, we got one of the top 2 guys. Ingram is slighted for his slight weight at this point, which is something that age/weight training will ameliorate over time.

For teams, how well the draft class overall is bears no relation to how well the player they selected ranks overall. We got a stud.

Interesting enough, he wasn't always rail thin. According to his mother, he was on the chubby side as a kid. His metabolism likely went through the roof as he grew.

Suited-up Brandon Ingram schools streetballers

But why stop there? Why not look good on the court as well?

Los Angeles Lakers rookie Brandon Ingram does just that as he hit the courts in Long Beach dressed in a slick outfit for a GQ Magazine shoot.

Deng, idk. But with training I don't put it past him jumping that high consistently and being known as a high flyer

I like that Luke said the starting roles are up for grabs. Ingram doesn't have to battle against veteran favoritism. Just ball out young man and show why you should get the starting job.

His defense is going to win out any position battle. His offense will come and idc if it takes 3 years, but he needs to be on the floor now because of his defensive impact.

Deng's currently a better defender than him.

could be. could be. I wouldn't be shocked at all if he's an above average defensive player day 1. although i feel that by his 3rd year, with his body improving - then he's really going to start looking like an all defensive team type player. (maybe not 1st team that early!)

That was Hershel Walker's lot in life as a kid. He was pudgy and he got teased and beat up after school badly once. He worked out so zealously that he became a Terminator by HS.
