|

Here in Brazil it is hard to find Lakers (or NBA) related books. Editors just don't import them.
So I recently bought a Kindle and I've read Phil's books (loved them). So I wonder, are there other good books about the Lakers? Specially with inside stories and perspective from people within. Thank you all in advance. _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com

Showtime by Jeff Pearlman is a fun read, esp. for insight on the 80s dynasty teams, Doc Buss and Jerry West. |

Two suggestions:
1) Tales from the Foxhole: How I survived Byron Scott's Regime by D'Angelo Russell, with a foreword written by Tarik Black.
Beginning with Byron's gulag-style training camps, Russell talks about the day to day hardships he had to endure in Byron's regime. Very uplifting story on how an individual manned up and overcame adverse circumstances. Falls in the survival/horror genre.
2) Fire by Ron Scott.
Discusses the downfall and eventual demise of Byron Scott. Details how Mitch's "blindside" maneuver overthrew an uncompromising dictator. |

Also read D'Angelo Russell's tell-all book about how he murdered Byron Scott and the incredible defense ("provocation defense") his legal team put together to save him from prison.

Thanks for Jeff Pearlman's "Showtime" tip. Already downloaded a sample and started it. Looks real good and with a lot of behind the scenes content. I'll get to it. _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com

Not just Lakers, but about Magic vs Bird rivalry: When the Game Was Ours, by Jackie MacMullan. Much about how NBA became what it is today and the importance of this rivalry in the history of the game. _________________ .... |
