FOX already tried to get him for their potential Dodger playoff games, he said no.

Vin made the wise decision to not call the post season because there would be the awkward situation of going into each game wondering whether it would finally be his last.

This way he has a definitive end that can be acknowledged.

I do hope though that if the improbable happens (i.e. WS), we bring Scully to the stadium for each game. Tie up Joe Buck in a closet, I want Scully.

I totally get it, but I'd be surprised if he went that route. And I wouldn't view the Dodgers' chances of making the WS as "improbable". They are right there with elite teams and on a roll.

Join the bandwagon.

But seriously though, while we have a level of scrappiness that was missing in our last playoff series, I'm just too worried about our starters after Clayton. We've won Divisions before. It's about the NLDS/NLCS that gets me worried year after year.

Who's the other one, Jack Buck or Chick Hearn?

Jack Buck and I should have said baseball. Love me some Chick as well, greatest in the NBA. The irony is that it was almost Chick doing Cardinal games instead of Buck.

Vin Scully's most memorable call: Kirk Gibson's 1988 World Series home run to win game 1...
Vin Scully's final call at Dodger Stadium: Charlie Culberson HR to clinch the NL West.
Both were underdogs and unlikely heroes to win a game.

I hate to say it, but this is even better than the Dodgers send off. The Giants have made the whole game about Vin.

The power of Vin: Even the Giants fans sang "Root for the Dodgers" during Take Me Out to the Ball Game.

Dodgers could've honored him by playing a competitive game in the series, but they have been stinkers.

Dodgers gave him an entire weekend last week. Pretty much all 4 days of the Colorado homestand was a celebration of his career.

Maybe it's something about having the opposition do it that makes it more poignant. Also, it's truly the end.

I haven't sought out a baseball broadcast in years and not really a baseball fan anymore, though it's been in the background sometimes. I'm listening to his last few innings (unless Dodgers score 4 runs), Check that... 6 runs. and it's like nothing's changed. So glad everyone is able to show him appreciation fully, Giants fans too in one of the most beautiful ballparks and areas to me. And they are going nuts for Vin today.

ThankYouVin. Since I was 5.

Sandy Koufax ribeye!!
