I actually like Mata and Fellaini when used correctly. Shaw didn't have one of his better games, bit expected since coming back from major injury.

The big elephant in the room is Rooney, I do hope Pogba one of these days gets the chance to prove his worth as a no. 10 (Roo did show a bit of annoyance at the post-match presser when asked about proving himself worthy). His best seasons are past him and will only get worse with time.

I think our best lineup is with -
a back 4 of : Valencia, Smalling, Bailly, Shaw
3 man midfield of : Mkhi, Carrick, Pogba
Front 3 of: Mata, Ibrah, and Martial

Eh, I think Mata is on borrowed time here. Lingard is probably ahead of him in Jose's plans. So is Pogba ofcourse ahead of Fellaini. If Pogba isn't suspended and Lingard isn't injured I think Fellaini and Mata don't start.

As you say, he could be on borrowed time. You can slot Mkhi in Mata's spot once he finds his legs in this league, but to me Rooney is the biggest conundrum to solve.

Zlatan is better than Wayne in just about every aspect of the game barring defensive work and with the players we have in midfield (Blind, Herrera, Schneiderlin) who can do the job admirably, Wazza's a luxury player atm (a ridiculously expensive one at that). Wondering what could be if Rashford gets the nod up top and Ibrah slots in the no. 10 role. You'd have runners for Zlatan to feed off of and a much more cutting edge on offense if you add Lingard or Mkhi on the RW.

Agreed about Rooney, I think if he doesn't deliver he goes to the bench or sold. I do hope he gives Rashford a chance , that kid is special and lightning fast. Good problems to have

Rooney is past his prime. They need to bench him and his hair plugs.

I got up early yesterday to watch Arsenal (my favorite team)...and yeah a bit of a disaster. They had a bunch of guys out, but still they should have played better at home. I dunno what Wenger is doing in the transfer window, right now he's holding Arsenal back.

You've got to be (bleep)ing me (on Mustafi):

Quote:

Arsenal yet to agree fee for Mustafi. #AFC considering Omer Toprak & Simon Kjaer as alternatives but Mustafi remains priority & keen to join

Price the issue. Arsenal want to hold back funds for possible striker signing. #AFC transfer budget factors in fee, salary, agent commission.

Still haggling over that extra million quid.

Wenger is like an old woman who goes to market, checks all the prices, and then doesn't buy anything because she thinks its too expensive.

That Rooney cross was a thing of beauty.
It is easy to forget how talented he is even as he declines.

Just my opinion.

Unfortunately nowadays for every moment of brilliance he has on the pitch he follows it up with a couple 'wth?!' moments whether it being an errant pass or losing the ball when in possession. That pass was only possible because the fullback gave him an eon to cross it into the path of Ibra's run. Give Zlatan more credit for fully extending and putting the power on the header.

But man Pogba is a monster of a midfielder. It just wasn't fair for the So'ton midfielders or defenders when he had the ball at his feet. He's like a Rolls-Royce out there big, smooth, and with plenty of power to spare.

Another Rooney cross. I know he isn't your fave, but this is the second winner in three games.

Watched a bit of the Man. United game. Pogba is a beast. I know his transfer fee was crazy, but he's probably worth it.

Got up early to watch Arsenal vs Watford. Arsenal finally has most of their best players back and this was the first time they looked like a top 4 team. Xhaka had a great game, he looks like a great signing. Better passer than i realized. Wenger actually signed somebody! Perez and Mustafi. I hope they can help.

I'll admit he's put in a proper shift. Nearly assisted on the other two chances missed.

Chelsea under Conte looks like a team revitalized; likely finish over Arsenal in top 4.

Sam Allardyce Out as England Manager

Something tells me the FA were involved in this 'sting operation'.

Last year i got into it with a US fan because he was sooooo hyped that Morris dropped a goal vs mexico in a friendly.. against mexico's B squad.

I told em how i had seen Morris play in college and U-23 NT's live several times and he'd turn out to be a fast player with average technique. I told em Pulisic was the real gem for american youth... he laugh in my face. Saying Morris was 20+ and Pulisic was 16.

I told him that was my point exactly, pulisic was on the brink of breaking through a top flight, division 1 pro team at age 16 while morris was still playing college. I was labeled a hater.

Thank you time for proving me right.

Pulisic is the future heart of the US midfield. Still need that predatory striker up front that can consistently produce goals.

Son is just lighting it up right now; that CL match between Leverkusen and Spurs is looking very juicy (Son used to play there before Chicharito and he swapped shirts).
