Yeah, once Dirk is gone, Harrison Barnes is your #1 guy? Good luck with that.

It will be interesting to see if Cuban will continue to shuffle players in and out in efforts be relevant or will eventually give up and accept the Scarlet T.

I think they go after Blake Griffin. I think the Lakers brass like what they have at 1-3.

Even with Dirk, how far can they really go in the West? Best case scenario, they're an 8th seed with everyone healthy, which is a low possibility with injury prone players like Bogut and Matthews, along with Williams and Barnes, two inconsistent production players.

Dallas has three important elements that make them a candidate to make the playoffs. First, they have multiple quality perimeter defenders (Wes, Barnes, Anderson). Second, they have one of the best tactical coaches in Carlise (though I don't think he's good in other areas). Lastly, they have decent continuity which is a REALLY important factor.

LA lacks proven perimeter defenders outside of Deng, has a coach who is in the first chair for the first time and almost zero roster/system continuity.

I'd much rather be in our situation though because Dallas isn't winning anything and long run we are better off.

Nothing really exciting from I see. I'd guess Ibaka and Tyreke are the two obtainable players and Greg Monroe will opt out, but he'd be a bad fit for us.

I guess if DLO progresses to all star level this season and Ingram is moving towards being a 20 pt a game scorer by the end of the season you could move Randle/Clarkson/Lou for cousins and sign Ibaka and Tyreke.

PG DLO
SG Tyreke
SF Ingram
PF Ibaka
C Cousins

And we'd have a 3-4 year window to go for a championship. Pretty far fetched though and that team is still probably not as good as GS since we'd have no depth. Probably best to just develop our young guys and sign them to long term deals and take a shot at 25 and under RFAs and wait until the GS/Lebron storm passes in 2020 or whatever.

Probably not good enough to beat GS? we would get swept.

Laker fans need to wake up and face reality. There is no way we are assembling a championship caliber team within the next 4-5 years unless it is grown from within. No shortcuts. The FO knows this. It's about time the fan base comes along.

We have to develop the dudes we have and continue to add complimentary players/maybe add a star if possible. That's the only way. Our youngins have to pan out. If not we're just not gonna win a title for awhile

If the big names pass I would offer huge 1 year deals to guys like Shaun Livingston or jj reddick. Like deals that are financially too good to pass up for 1 year and we get another shot in 2018 with a max (so offer a 2nd year team option ala Jordan hill so we can't trade the player without consent from the player).

Depending on the way the math works out, I'd turn that attention to Igoudala more so than Livingston. Pelinka client, Arizona Wildcat who is tight with Walton (were actually teammates there for one year) and already in Ingram's ear. Playmaker, defender, team first guy. I'd go pretty deep into the pocket book for Hayward before that though if he is willing to make a move.

Seeing the realistic free agent centers next year makes me feel even better about the Mozgov deal. Between what I expect to be a bounce back year, his deal being flat across years, the potential for the cap to jump significantly if the players negotiate for an extra point or two of BRI, and the 2017 free agent alternatives, Moz is going to look like a smarter move than people realize.

Not enthused about offering iggy more than 1 year max. What would you offer in terms of years/contract?

Good question. First, one would have to presume that the CBA terms for next year effectively prohibit Igoudala's return in Golden St. It could be the case if they need cap room to sign KD and retain some semblance of depth. That's not certain however.

Second, I'm assuming between his association with Walton, Pelinka (and Bryant actually), familiarity with the system and the opportunity to transition into a different phase of his career would appeal to Andre enough to make LA his preferred non-GS destination. Also uncertain though in theory seems reasonable.

Third, whatever deal you offer Iggy would have to allow a max slot in 2018, especially if P George doesn't renegotiate and extend. Maybe that's a hefty two-year deal with a partial guarantee on year two or some other creative way of working the deal.

I expect him to show the beginning of a decline this year. If we have max room, I would target one of the top tier players, and if we miss, look for a deal to take on contract with picks. The reason I say this is because this offseason will not be as bad as this year in regards to mediocre talent getting almost max money, but it may be close. I expect 2018 to return to normal as far less teams should have max space.

When the cap is highest I doubt players you mentioned will take 1yr deals even if it's max.

It's going to be their last huge paycheck aswell

Nothing really interests me in this free agent class besides a couple of role players.

Reddick would be an awesome get as a backup guard no question. Although I imagine many other teams would go hard after him as well if we only offer something like a one year max or something.

Blake Griffin no. You might as well keep Randle unless he shows zero improvevent in his game.

I mean...yeah that's pretty much it I guess unless the Jazz and Thunder for some insane reason don't resign Gobert and Adams.

Ideal targets will be better considered once we've had a chance to see what we need. We don't really know that right now.

Amir Johnson or Taj Gibson on 2y30M deals (Last year unguaranteed)
1 of Livingston, Tony Allen, Iggy, Reddick on a similar deal

Forget the FA's right now. Lets just develop the kids and see what we got. I think an eventual trade is more likely than free agency. I have a feeling one of our young bucks (not Dlo or Ingram) will eventually be moved.

Well its either trading a JR/JC and picks to get someone like him or paying that outrageous amount. I'd rather pay high and keep alot of talent on the team.

Hayward? Eh, not at a 29m/year max. He's really a 2nd option on a playoff team, maybe 3rd option on a championship team level player.

I think he stays in Utah or joins Brad Stevens in Boston.
