pretty sure yi isn't making this team. he brings value only in concept as a change of pace at the 5 - having more lateral mobility than mozgov while being able to pick and pop without sacrificing rebounding. unfortunately, yi's catch & shoot is not only slower then slow, it's also unreliable, and he isn't exactly a good rebounder either. if he can't bring value through a unique combination of size and skill, then he has no role on the team, since trob is a better lateral defender and rebounder (and even hit a three, albeit after the buzzer).
i think the cuts are wear, jacobs, mwp, yi, leaving us with a 15 man roster
Current roster is 20, so there will be at least 5 cuts, not 4

I don't like YI. I don't like his defensive rebounding nor his rim protection. I don't see the 'great shooting' he has displayed in practice according to Walton.
That said, we don't currently have a PF that can space the floor.

forgot auguste. that guy's toast
Gonna reserve judgement for Auguste until I see him play. Wear, Jacobs, and MWP are definitely goners. Yi is probably gonna be a goner as well, if he can't adjust to the speed of the NBA. Final cut is probably gonna be between Auguste or Robinson, but Auguste could be the more likely cut because there's a better chance he'd get on the Defenders.
The Lakers have begun making cuts from their offseason roster, announcing today in a press release that they’ve waived camp invitees Zach Auguste, Julian Jacobs, and Travis Wear. All three players will hit the free agent market, assuming they clear waivers later this week.
While Wear and Jacobs saw 11 total minutes in the Lakers’ four preseason games to date, Auguste didn’t see any action. None of the three players had a fully guaranteed salary, but Auguste did have a modest $60K guarantee on his deal, so that figure will remain on the team’s cap following his release.

Is something going on this preseason with quick whistles? It seems like the whistles have been to quick in our games, then in this Suns vs. Jazz games, they have shot over 100 free throws, and they are still playing! Its been even with each team shooting over 50 each, but it is unwatchable. I really hope they let them play more in the season.
Walton 'Pleased' With Lakers Halfway Through Preseason
Quote:
After the Lakers fell to Portland in overtime Tuesday night, head coach Luke Walton checked the tape and was “pleased” by how his team performed upon second viewing.
Rebuilding Lakers play first of 2 preseason games in Las Vegas
Quote:
“We’re trying to start this new era,” Lakers third-year forward Tarik Black said. “Bringing it back to dominance. It’s bigger than just Kobe retiring.
“It’s also the Lakers … Getting back to dominance as an organization, in only six months, we’ve been doing it.”
The new-look Lakers will take the floor at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against the Sacramento Kings in the first of two preseason games at T-Mobile Arena. They’ll also play the defending Western Conference champion Golden State Warriors at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Few thoughts:
-Nance needs to stop hesitating on those jumpers. He can make them, but pausing allows the defense to recover.
-Randle's offensive game is still raw despite everything he's been working on in the off-season.
-Ingram is playing point again and guarding Russell. I think he'll end up starting at the 2 very soon.
-No one can guard Ingram.
-Russell can score, but he needs to get better at making the right reads.
-Zubac sets good screens. Hopefully the Yi experiment is over and Zubac sees more time on the floor.
