I think the expectations stem from their interesting roster, with a good defensive foundation. Their Hayward, Favors, Gobert core is maturing into the prime phase of their careers. Then they have the return of Exum this season to see if he's going to pan out, along with the acquisitions of Joe Johnson, George Hill and postseason veteran Boris Diaw for veteran leadership. Hood and Lyles are two promising young guys, and Burks is too, although he's a bit older than the other two. I think they're lacking a #1 and a strong #2, to be honest, but they probably have three or or four very solid #3 players on that roster, along with four or five key rotation players. With one superstar, that roster could be poised to compete ...
I don't know what to expect, but it should be an interesting season in SLC ...

If you had asked me four years ago to measure my enthusiasm for Luke Walton to be coaching this team it would have been just as low. We'll see how Price fares in his post-playing career. Most of the better coaches were mediocre players probably because they had to develop their basketball minds and leadership to make up what they lacked in talent. _________________ "Suck it up. Completely agreed re: the bolded above ... and the ones who were "above average" as players were typically highly-cerebral athletes anyway (i.e., that ability to "see the game" was really their principal strength as a player). I don't know if Price satisfies that criterion, but we'll have to wait and see. As for Luke, I think he was touted as a likely head coaching prospect long before I was personally sold on the idea, but it seems like it's been an inevitably for some time. He was on these lists, IIRC. I guess I just showed up late to that party ...
Incidentally, on the topic of coaching prospects (as it relates to Luke), ESPN published an interesting article today highlighting Golden State's ongoing struggles with Draymond Green swirling around in the vortex of their success. I'm certainly no Green fan, but I think the article is a very good one. It paints him fairly sympathetically (as far as I'm concerned), but what a mess overall. Takeaway: I'd be very surprised to see Green in a Warriors uniform two years from now.
I read that the Chuckster has weighed in again. It's interesting how he continues to characterize GSW as a jumpshooting team. Not that he's incorrect, but CLE isn't exactly a low-post power team (is anybody these days?). They were third in the league in 3's attempted, second during the playoffs. They don't chuck up quite as many, and did go to the basket more often in the finals (and were rewarded with a win). But still, Cavs put up more than their fair share. It's not wrong to say that a "jumpshooting team" won the title last year. _________________ Smrek 2, Nevitt 1, Barkley 0

Not bad. Don't know how Duncan got a vote lol
Is it confusing because he's retired or because you don't think he was a good leader? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
Lebron won't win MVP his minutes will continue to go down and he probably doesn't care about winning it this late in his career. Im going with Leonard.
