Clippers by sheer luck were lucky Elton did not resign with them....I remember at the time everyone was ticked off at him for not resigning including his buddy Baron Davis. Soon afterwards he got injured and was never the same player he was in LA.

I've always felt like Brand was sort of a weak #1 overall pick for a draft that was one of the best of all time. Not that there was anyone better than him in that draft. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
I really liked Elton Brand when he was younger. Just a good guy and very productive player. He's going to have a great post NBA life. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

If he had stayed healthy, I think he would have been remembered as an Antwain Jamison type -- a guy who could put up strong numbers for bad teams, but they sublimate his ego enough to be a solid sub on better teams.
His draft was unique in that it had 9 all-stars, but no superstars.

No, Elton Brand was elite from 2002-2007, but unfortunately, if rightly, overshadowed by a historic group of PFs in Duncan, Garnett, Nowitzki, and Webber. He carried the Clippers on his back into the playoffs with Corey Maggette as his best teammate - Jamison couldn't ever dream of that even in the feeble Eastern Conference.

During that 6 year span, Brand only made the playoffs once. Jamison, in Washington made the playoffs three times during that same period. Obviously that's not an apples-to-apples comparison since they were on different teams, with different teammates. However, in his first eight years before being injured, brand only made the playoffs once. So I'm not sure why you think he has some great track record carrying teams.
I wouldn't call Brand elite. He only made two all-star teams, and only one all NBA team. (Some of the guys that coaches placed ahead of him in all-star games: Shawn Marion, Peja Stockavic, Andrei Kirilenko, Amare Stoudamire, Rashard Lewis.) That's actually a pretty good peer group for him.
For his career, I'd place him between Shawn Marion and Antwain Jamison.

Yup. He averaged 1.7 bpg throughout his career and was pretty much good for 2 bpg during his prime, which is impressive considering he was relatively undersized at the 4 and wasn't an athletic freak. I remember Dunleavey saying that Brand was the best on-ball shotblocker he had ever seen.
