Why didn't Deng D up Harden more?

Good stuff !! I always enjoy reading these. Was a fun game to watch. Hopefully they can tighten up the defense a bit moving forward. I do think the Rockets will be tough to defend for many teams though.

Great first game. Incredibly fun to watch. If we overachieve this season, it will be awesome. But even if we only hit under 30 wins, at least we will be a joy to watch. I fully expect 30 wins or better now, though. I'm riding high!

Great win for the Lakers and I liked what Luke done with the rotation with it being his first-game as head-coach. Later in the season I think the likes of Russell and Clarkson will be playing 30+ minutes. The rotation was spread out last night and no one played over 29 minutes which was Russell and Randle. It was smart thinking by Luke to bring Mozgoz back in to the game after Black was struggling in the second-quarter.

Saw this earlier being mentioned how Russell started the game very well, Randle during the middle of the game and Clarkson to close the game out. Ingram was solid and Luke has said he will play more at PG which is going to be interesting to see.

Luke went with a few different line-ups, I don't know the extact number of different line-ups the Lakers used yesterday but I liked how Luke goes with different line-ups.

Mozgoz is such an upgrade on Hibbert, Deng showed his leadership near the end of the game, Lou Williams wasn't over-used and I know Young was playing against James Harden but his defense last night compared to last season was so much better.

Out of many exciting things, the most exciting thing to me about the Lakers now is that they're truly a blank slate and yet truly on a good path. They're going to keep getting better and better and more fun and more fun. There's no more going into Portland, Utah, etc, places where "historically" we haven't won many games and having that history bog us down. If we play well we win. If we don't we lose. The blessings and the curses are over. It's just now.

This is probably the best balanced team the Lakers have had in a really long time. Can't remember the last time I didn't fear substitutions for a drop in productivity on the court. That was a fun fourth quarter.

It is a good point. It's because we don't have dominance in our starting squad while at the same time being a deep team.

If we are gonna make a run for the playoffs, I can see Mitch using a last piece to make a run after the ASB. someone like Rudy Gay or Ricky Rubio.

This road trip will probably tell a lot about what kind of season we are gonna have... it can end up being special or... It can end up like the 2005 season when we only won 34 games.

because he's not quick enough to guard SGs anymore, or even small SFs

Thanks DB. You've been so consistent for years. Good to start the season w/ a win.

Seems an entirely different mindset - or at least, an interest in defensive intensity - came over our guys in Q4. Good news overall, a win and some indication that there's gonna be potential for wild variability in focus, execution, results all year long.

When Anderson and Ariza go a combined 8-23 on FGs it's a big part to beating the Rockets.
