There are rumors circulating about a Deng Tibbs reunion and I for one would definitely accept this transaction. If Thibodeau is so fond of his former player and feel his vet presence would make a difference in their locker room, we should definitely oblige him. Deng has be subpar for us at best on the floor, but I'm sure outstanding in the Locker room... However if you look at our team we have a ton of Veterans in our Locker room and could afford to release one for sure.
Deng to Minny for Dieng and Muhammad sound like a perfect deal for the Lakers.
In Gorgui we get a young defensive minded shot blocker who is beginning to refine his offensive game and if I can still say Muhammad may still have a ton of upside and potential. IMO Muhammad can slide into the starting Small Forwar position and be a poor mans Harden on this Lakers team. And Gorgui off the bench would be very intriguing for this team and definitely add to our depth. I believe we would be a much better team than we are now.
It also gives us more trade leverage if we choose to move nick or Mozgov later on in the season.
I like the sound of this possibility even though it's a rumor, I would hope the Lakers FO gives some attention to it and make it a reality!

Russell + Young + Muhammad + Randle + Mozgov / Clarkson = 6thman (Present/Future)
Not a bad offensive squad, we could slide Dieng in the starting lineup and gives us a little better defensive squad.

Deng has been playing better lately, I think he does a lot of little things on defense that get missed, but his turnovers and shooting % are horrible. I seem to recall everyone saying how good he did last year at PF and of course Lakers are playing Randle at PF and Deng at SG...

But yeah, I would not mind trading him, with his over-inflated salary (thanks again Jimbo) it will be very hard to move him.

Rumors are rumors for a reason, they are not the truth. Unless we are getting Wiggins or Towns, pass on any deal with Minnesota.

So your alternative, is that we shouldn't trade a disappointing and underachieving player if we don't get 1 of there best players?

even, I will pack Deng's bags to the airport if we can get Deng for Pekovic and a filler like Rush or Muhammad, dude has ZERO value.

Dwight to the Lakers started as a rumor. Ended up happening. So I guess you're statement doesn't apply 100%. Might apply to this one though, probably.

Of course you would, that would be a dumb thing to do. I have no idea why the seers here think that the Lakers want to get rid of Deng, they do not.

So using that as an example I guess we might trade Deng to Minny in 3-4 seasons, the Howard rumors went on for that long. The Lakers wanted Howard (I did not) and as I said, I am sure they would like to get Towns or Wiggins. So if that trade is available I think they would definitely trade Deng.

Towns for Deng, Ingram, and Calderon? If that were offered, and as much as I like Ingram's potential, the Lakers would not turn that offer down. They'd take it and figure out how to fit the pieces out later.

Just to be clear.

It would take BI, Randle, Russell, Deng + picks for Towns.

And that's just for Minny to even think about picking up the phone.

And hang up after a double take. Towns is that special. Anyone that thinks they are gonna trade Wiggins or Towns is clueless and/or delusional. Those 2 are the next 2 big superstars of NBA. Virtually untouchables.

I like the Shabazz for Luol trades. Minny has 12.5 in cap space. I doubt they throw in Dieng. If anything they'd want another piece from us. Like a 2nd rd pick.

If this trade happens it'll probably be around the deadline when Lakers would willing to let Ingram start. Shabazz would be a 1/2 season trial period. I think many of us cringed at the minimum looking year 3 and 4 of Deng signing or signing in its entirety. Mitch's weakness is FA signings (Luke, Vlad, Young, Deng, etc). I think if he can undo it he'd in a heartbeat.

In all seriousness, I've read LaVine as a possibility with and without Shabazz too. I think LaVine would be perfect.

You start art Zack at the 2 and Young at the 3. You keep the bench intact. Sounds good to me!

Relevance on the bolded?

Just saying, some rumors turn out to be true at the end. So your original post is not accurate.

We have 3 PG, we don't need another.

How about this three-way trade instead?
LAL: Deng for Gay + Filler
SAC: Gay for Rubio + Filler
MIN: Rubio + Fillers for Deng

Because we already have our quota of no defense chuckers.

The only reason Lakers would do this is if they hated Deng and wanted to get out of his deal.

I don't think they hate Deng.

I just read today the trade rumor around Rubio and Deng. Here's the trade in NBA Trade Machine.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=gwgw9zs

Personally, I think Wolves get the better end of the deal (Lou Williams is a great player for his contract), however, I would still do it simply to get out of Deng's horrible long term contract. I also think that Russell may be better suited to play SG instead of PG and this trade allows that move. Playing SG would allow Russell to get more post up opportunities where he previously had some success.

PG/SG: Rubio (S), Russell (S), Clarkson - 3 man rotation
SF: Young (S), Ingram, Muhammad
PF: Randle (S), Nance, Robinson
C: Mozgov (S), Zubac, Black

Wishful Thinking: I would then hope to unload Mozgov's contract for another quality starter. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=jhns34p

PG/SG: Rubio (S), Russell (S), Clarkson - 3 man rotation
SF: Ingram (S), Muhammad
PF: Nance (S), Robinson
C: Whiteside (S), Zubac, Black
