Since Russell's injury, the Lakers are
30th in Net Rtg (-15.1)
29th in O-Rtg (94.7)
They were 13th and 9th with him.
And to put those number in context they also played the best team in the NBA during that time. Twice. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
This is the kind of thing you don't want to linger, the season is a marathon...hopefully he won't come back until he is completely sound. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny
It's pretty evident this team misses DLO out there. Nance and Swaggy being out hurts too.
Teams don't have to plan defensively for Huertas or Calderon. They don't have to worry about one of them getting hot, getting out in transition, creating on offense and slicing through defenses.
People complain about DLO's turnovers, and yes some are clumsy and careless, but I'd rather see him turning the ball over and learning from his mistakes, then watch Huertas or Calderon throw the ball away for an easy lay up or dunk.
Before the injury was acknowledged, I remember thinking that Russell looked like he wasn't always playing with his legs fully under him. He was running downhill in summer league and 8 games into the season he seemed to be moving more East/West and too upright defensively. Kudos to the Lakers for putting his well being ahead of the team's early season record, as critical as it is.
You only need to look at Russell's splits to see as he goes so have the Lakers. For games he's played in (13), in wins (7) he's shooting 47.4/ 44 / 83 scoring 20.3 ppg. In losses (6) he's shooting 32.4 / 27.8 / 64.3 scoring 11.2 ppg. In wins he's being more aggressive, taking three more shots, one more FT and turning it over more (0.5).
Once he feels right physically I expect Russell to more frequently play to those better numbers. He's too talented not to. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night.
Russell is the only player on the first unit able to score and create. A unit that is not great with him become stagnant with him out. Missing Nick Young too makes the things even worse. Mick should miss a lot of games, but I hope Dlo would be able to come back soon.
Lakers were 7-5 with Russell. Are 3-7 without him.
To be fair, they've rarely just been missing him. Once he went out, a whole bunch of injuries started, and they've always been down at least 2 if not 3 from the starting lineup.

Randle went out for couple of games, N young went out couple of games, last game calderon went out.
ya so No
forgot, larry didnt play last game neither
Still doesn't make his statement false. LOL!
You can use numbers the way you wish to prove a point, but we are also missing other players, this part of the schedule is brutal and there is no doubt that we miss our starting PG. Putting one thing over another is a bit biased, but I'm sure the team is missing Dlo a lot. Next year with a somewhat favorable schedule and with everybody healthy we can recover. For a 17 win roster finish anywhere near 50% is a huge improvement.

I perfectly understand the value of missing the other players as well as D'LO. It was a joke at the semantics. And personally, I've been hard on Luke more than anything. He continues to sub as if we have a deep team. Using Lou as a 6th man, when he's our best player. Only deep teams can have a super sub. Does not make sense for a depleted team. Lou rides the pine in the 3rd quarter as if we have a deep team and time to spare.
Ever since our starting shooting guard went out the offense hasn't looked very organized. Get well soon, DLO. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God.
