24th all-time in scoring, 8x all-star, 19 years in the league.
I don't think he deserves to, but Mitch Richmond got in so by that precedent I think they have to let Carter in as well. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Surprisingly, Richmond actually has a ring to his resume. When he was on the Raptors, he definitely put a face to that franchise with his dunks. Unfortunately, he went soft and invisible in big moments so he never got the postseason success that can clinch it for him.
Who was better: Peak Vince Carter or current DeRozan? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

weird question. for a couple years, carter was a leading mvp candidate. carter, iverson, pierce i'd say are at the similar levels of greatness, which i'd also say is currently higher than derozen, relatively speaking.
carter's dunking was talked about the way curry's 3pt shooting was talked about in 2014. had you asked a lot of people, i think the impression was that carter's career would end up the way lebron's has ended up.

What about McGrady?
Similar to Carter. His black ink is stronger, but his career was shorter. He'll be a lower tier HoFer.
Who would you cite as an example of a cutoff player-- someone who just barely misses the mark? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Carter isn't a top-tier HOFer, but his accomplishments put him solidly in the second tier, along the lines of Alex English and Chet Walker. Early in his career he was a flashy fan favorite, but he's been playing so long at a reduced level a lot of people have forgotten him. He's a reasonable Hall of Famer, but it wouldn't be an outraged if he didn't make it.

Tim Hardaway
Jack Sikma
Sidney Moncrief
Joe Johnson
Amare Stoudemire
Antawn Jamison
Kevin Johnson
nice list. i might elevate kj a little more, but i was high on him as a player.
i have to say one thing about antawn...there are very few games where another player has really gone at kobe on the court and succeeded. like, for example, lebron has never really done anything to kobe that was impressive, unlike what kobe's done to him (individually, i don't give a S--- who won the game). Prime antawn had a game, i believe, where both he and kobe scored 50, and it was a shootout, a down to the wire game. very rare to see someone do that with kobe on the court, and actually win. it might have been that crazy game where kobe tipped in the free throw. i've never found footage, other than the tip, but i think kobe went nuts in ot with the 3s, which was rare at the time. and antawn was making everything. i'm telling you, it was an unusual game.

KJ would have probably been a Hall of Famer if not for injuries (Sidney Moncrief too).
For fun, here is Basketball Reference's Hall of Fame probability score. They measure potential candidates against guys who are in the Hall in terms of stats, awards, etc. and give a percentage of their chance of getting in:
Sikma ... 87%
Amare ... 73%
Joe Johnson ... 51%
Moncrief ... 50%
KJ ... 19%
Jamison ...0.6%
