Darius & I talk about a pretty terrible week for the Lakers, the red flags that we see in the young core, and the potential of Ivica Zubac. Enjoy.

Listening to the pod. Interesting point on Randle and a jump hook. Wonder if the size of his hands prevents him from having that. If you get a bump on the shot you need to have a pretty good grip on the ball. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

Great stuff, as always. I really like the central question you guys explore in this one about what problems based on youth and which ones are more enduring. The line Darius had, "So yea young guys suck at defense, but some veterans do too" was hilarious and sobering.
I agree that this is unfamiliar territory as a Lakers fan, where we've in recent memory had clear cut all timers and our tendency is to look hopefully to the best in the league like Giannis as analogues and best case scenarios for our young guys as opposed to a more likely outcome such as AK-47.
At this point, we are kind of just another team. The team we just played, the Pistons, are a team like that. If everything breaks right for them, Drummond could be like prime Dwight, Jackson could put it all together mentally and become a top flight point guard, and KCP could become one of the league's best wings. None of that's a given though, and we don't make the mistake of assuming or expecting the best case scenario for teams like that when they're not ours. |

I see you hit on one of my questions I have been thinking about, who does Zubac take PT from, Mozgov or Black? One has clearly outplayed the other _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |
