So in that sense, we're equal. But that is a testament to Lebron and GS.

I think IT and Horford could be the 2nd/3rd best players on a championship team. But a more likely result is using 1 or both of those valuable assets as trade chips to get guys that can win chips. They are more valuable than anybody on our roster.

I don't think they will get a PG 13 using those guys. Al Horford is not getting any younger. Better chance of getting a super star with young core. Cavs got Love trading Wiggins.

If we're speaking hypothetically, they have no shot at beating Cleveland, and they are not in the same class as Cleveland, Golden State, San Antonio, or even LAC. In the coming years when Lebron declines, so will Horford and I don't see them beating out Embiid/Simmons + lotto picks in the East.

I think the hatred for the Celtics are making people blind. They are close to the Cavs right now. This is before adding a max player and a great pick (and several others) that will be coming their way.

Boston's success begins with that dumbfounding robbery of the Nets. It's more a testament to how terrible Brooklyns ownership is than how great Boston's is. That trade allowed them to get incrementally better without having to tank or bottom out, because lottery picks were coming their way anyway. Their problem is they don't draft well, and thus far they haven't been able to use those picks to wrestle away a star, and they don't have any prospects that look like they have the potential to become one.

That could all be changing for them this summer. They have a strong chance at the #1 overall pick. It's a strong draft. They could end up with a star player after all.

I wonder what we could have got if we traded Kobe in 2013 like they dumped Pierce.

That was never happening. But Pau trade would have worked way better for the Nets than two Boston fossils.

No way they are close to the Cavs right now. That is severely overrating them imo. Yes they have a bright future, but they have zero chance in a series against the Cavs. They have yet to beat a top 5 team this season. They are a nice team but they aren't at an elite level.

Yes, but they also have a current 3rd pick, and TWO more top 3 picks (say Jackson and Ayton). Throw that to there already top 4 team in the east, and assuming that Cavs would decline, they are pretty damn close to a lock to make the East Finals over next few years

13 -3 in their last 16 games, 3 and a half games in back of the Cavs right now and the Cavs have played 3 more home games. That is my definition of close.

They might steal a game from Cavs or could get swept like 60 wins Atlanta. No one is close to Cavs in the East in playoffs.

Brooklyn announcers said he's just resting. Maybe he's out for the year against Brooklyn.

If you are talking about standings fine yes they are close. in terms of win loss record. I thought you meant that they are actually close to them in a head to head match up. Plenty of East teams have been close to the Cavs in the standings the last 2 years. Including the Hawks being way ahead of them once. They still swept them twice even without Kyrie/Love when Hawks had HCA.

Celtics may end up having a nice regular season record, but I don't see them as any real threat to the Cavs this season was my point. Yes in the future that might change. Lebron isn't getting any younger.

Sorry I got bad info from my Brother. Seems like he is okay.

Saw the Celtics came back against the Blazers.

Was impressed by the Celtics especially in the 4th quarter. A lot of young weapons and players.

They are closer to a championship because they are in second place in the east and we are close to last place in the West.

Celtics are now only 2.5 games behind Cleveland in the EC and looking solid in the #2 seed in the East. They have improved every year and have been getting valueable playoff experience. They can beat Cleveland if not this year next year for sure. They have plenty of cap room this summer to sign a max player (possibly Hayward) and a top 3 draft pick.

I understand what you are trying to say. But is this like a weekly hyperventilation thread? It is what it is.

Good time to bump this thread. They could get to the finals this year and we are hoping for a top 3 lottery pick.

No Eastern team is beating Lebron in a series. Its crazy how good they are and how many future assets they have to improve upon this, though.

They just beat them last week. Without a healthy Love they could beat Cleveland.

Thats why I said in a series...I don't think they will sweep them, so yes, Boston will win a game or two.
